The Office Webisodes--No. 1: The Books Don't Balance
While fans of The Office are simmering with anticipation to find out what exactly happened with Jim and Pam after their momentous kiss at the end of the Season 2 finale, NBC has decided to whet our collective appetite by producing a series of three-minute webisodes to keep us thinking about our favorite office workers from Scranton, PA.
The story begins with Jan, Oscar, Angela, and Kevin sitting in the conference room whereby the accountants tell Jan that $3,000 is missing from the books. The accountants all say that they don't believe they've made an error, but the always uptight Angela stresses that it is not her accounting error.
Jan doesn't seem too fazed by this situation, but she tells them to look into it and get back to her when they find out something. As she leaves the room, she is told that Michael, with whom she has shared some romantic moments, wants to see her before she goes back to the main office in New York City.
(UPDATE: You can watch this episode here.)
The three accountants immediately suspect Michael since he has at times claimed some "questionable" expenses on the corporate credit card. Kevin asks if anyone in the office has bought anything nice lately, and Angela notices that Oscar is wearing a very nice watch and questions him about it. He answers that it was left to him by his grandfather who passed away just a few weeks before. As the uncomfortable silence fills the room, Kevin holds out his to Oscar as a means of comfort and support.
Since these webisodes are each going to run about 3 minutes, it'll be fun to keep going back and watching and try to figure out if there are any clues about Jim and Pam, Michael's budding romance(s) with Jan and/or the real estate agent, and Dwight and Angela's relationship. If anything is revealed, it'll be very quick and subtle.
