Did 18 TVs in one small apartment cause a fire?

Our brothers in blog at Engadget bring us the story of a high-rise fire in Miami Beach that displaced 150 residents. Not unusual, huh? Well, when the firefighters entered the building to rescue a man in a sixth-floor unti of the Hotel Versailles, they found that he had 18 TVs, all plugged in. The man that was rescued said that he used the TVs to prop open doors and sometimes put some TVs in the stairwell, obstructing access.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it's reasonable to think that 18 TVs plugged into a few outlets may have done the deed. Apparently, the man in the apartment was blind, so I guess he wanted to hear a TV in whatever room he was in. Too bad no one told him about the wonderful innovation of wireless headphones, huh?
