Stargate Atlantis: No Man's Land (season premiere)

(S03E01) I always enjoy a good episode of Atlantis. It tends toward the predictable plot line, but it usually veers away from predicable endings. This episode used a few flash backs, but I was pleased that they really jumped back into the story and got it moving almost right away.

Right out of The Empire Strikes Back, we find out that Shep managed to latch on to one of the hive ships before they entered hyperspace. Seriously though, how many times a season does Shep get reported dead? I think we might need to count them. Shep's dead: 1

Next we have Elizabeth being recalled to earth to be interrogated by the obnoxious oversight committee. She seems to have their number, but I would have enjoyed it more if she mouthed off at them a bit more. I was surprised that Weir didn't give her husband a call while she's back. [Update: Ok, maybe she wasn't married, but it seemed like it] Her character has definitely developed from the treaty negotiating diplomat to a hard core leader. (But who wouldn't want some nookie before the possible end of the world?)

It's fun to watch Mikey the wraith change allegiance. You're never quite sure what he'll do after the end of last season. After the group is transported to the ship, the camera didn't show him much love. I started wondering if he was sneaking off to do some sabotage.

The ending comes together with the usual solving the impossible problem. Of course, it'll be interesting to see what they do with all the wraith turned humans. Lord knows what the science geeks will do with their spiffy new half blown apart hive ship. The ship will probably make a great asset, but all the extra humans are going to make an interesting concentration camp setting. Oh, and doesn't the retrovirus wear off? It certainly did with Mikey.

Retro-Virus

Taint the food supply. For the retro-virus to be effective and morally less ambiguous the means of transmission needs to be changed to contact during feeding and humans need to be infect able as carriers and in turn source of contagion if feed upon.

If possible the amnesia side-effect should be eliminated. The effect on the enemy knowing that feeding robs them of their wraithness would be devastating.

Thanks for the suggestion brassholio, i'll be sure never to write an atlantis review. Can I make a suggestion? Write your own, and quit ripping on this guy that put some effort into it rather than you who comes here to hate for a simple goof. I'll be sure not to read it. Again, thanks Will for the recap :)

Actually, most sydicated television reviewers review shows without seeind every single episode or know every little detail. I don't see this as being any different. Will was reviewing this episode and outside of that little flub, the review was pretty good.

Then I should suggest not ever writing an atlantis review with that attitude Awperator. These things are SUPPOSED to be properly researched and free from incorrect assumptions.

Christ you people are vultures... So the reviewer goofed on a little fact. Settle down nerdboys. Thanks for the review Will, I would have made the same mistake as you.

The retrovirus wore off on mike because it was an imperfect beta version.

They perfected it with the wraith at the end of the last season.

I thought that flashback with sheppard, mckay and zelenka eating in the mess was great. Shep is such a flirt! And yeah face it, you're wrong, Elizabeth and Simon broke up. Get your facts right, what a shit review.

It was a funny episode. The big points were:

1- Orion ship not working very well but still removed a hive ship with only a salva of drone. Well after that "the thousands centuries happened again" and orion was blown up.

2- Daedalus sending the virus to the hive. And many wraiths killed just for fighting for food. The queen wasn´t very affected, and only catched a cold. But, the hive was occupied and, michael will taking the ship back to atlantis.

What will happen in the next episode?

The retrovirus, wears off, but I think it takes a few hours. Yes will be interesting to see what they do with all those 'humans' that will in time, turn back into Wraith. Good to see the season start with a decent episode. Nothing to unbelievable. Just thought that ending would have been a little more interesting.
