Rock Star: Supernova: Week 3 Elimination
(S02E06) The thing that I am enjoying most about this show is that some of the aspring rock stars actually are trying to get better while those who can't step it up are getting left behind. Tonight's episode begins at the house where everyone takes a look at Dana's performance via cell phone and finds it lacking. Storm and Dilana instruct Dana in how to be more rock star but it's clear she doesn't fit in. Ryan goes so far as to say that he was embarrassed by her performance (he should talk). The encore goes to Magni, who rocks it without his shades on, for a second or two at least. I would have given the encore to Phil based on how improved his performance was but this is a solid choice too. The bottom three are Jenny, Dana and smiley Josh.
Jenny sings "Vasoline." It's her chance to really rock and she tries, really, she tries but it doesn't seem to suit her. But before her performance Tommy has to throw us some ham-handed innuendos about how he is going soft and wants to get hard. Really, why doesn't he just start humping someone's leg and get it over with?
Dana sings a song called "High Road Easy" which I have never heard of before. Wow, she's really kind of good. I'm surprised. She struts, she belts it, she really feels the music. It's sort of astounding.
Josh sings "Heart-Shaped Box" and gives Nirvana his smiling treatment. He just can't seem to feel the songs he sings. This is such a raw song that you really want to see the singer emote the lyrics. Not so here.
Dana is the first to sit down. She deserves it for tonight. I don't think she can sustain this but I liked her performance. Tommy sends Jenny home but I don't predict that Josh will be staying around too long either.
