American Idol finalists will visit Oval Office

by Anna Johns, posted Jul 22nd 2006 1:00PM
taylor hicksThe top ten finalists from this season of American Idol will have an audience with the President on Friday. The performers will already be in Washington, D.C. for their "American Idols Live" tour. They are the first group of American Idols to meet the President and the group may have Taylor Hicks to thank for that. His ninth grade teacher is now Laura Bush's personal secretary! I'm sure some jokes will be made about how Taylor Hicks got more votes than the President did in the last election, but that's super lame. Teen-agers with speed dial aren't exactly a fair comparison.

I wonder if the President watched American Idol this season. What do you think President Bush watches on television (other than Fox Newschannel)?

I'm so glad that in the midst of another Middle East war that's being called "World War 3", while we still have American soldiers dying and being maimed in Iraq, while New Orleans is still trying to get back on its feet, while we STILL have fundamentalist Muslim terrorists trying to kill us, while we owe trillions of dollars to China and other countries, while our democracy is flaking away bit by bit...

that THIS is what our Fearless Leader is occupying his time with. Entertaining TV talent show winners.

i wonder if bush is aware that taylor hicks, after being told by a fox reporter that his accent and hair were reminiscent of bill clinton's, genially referred to clinton as one of our greatest presidents!

I THINK THAT NBC WILL VERY WELL PLAN A VERY STRONG FALL TV SEASON THIS YEAR WITH BRAND NEW TV SHOWS AND RETURNING TV SHOWS.

That's the fool that won this year? If he sounds anything like he does in those Ford commercials, how bad was the competition?

At least in American Idol there's at least 4-5 people running and any one of them would be a good viable choice. Usually when we vote for a president it's either Incompetent Boob #1 vs. Incompetent Boob #2.

No, but it's really pathetic that more people care about the next American Idol than our next president. Maybe more people would vote if you could do it from your home phone. Now that is lame.
