Lost gamers to learn the meaning behind the numbers

by Anna Johns, posted Jul 26th 2006 9:27AM
lostHave you been playing along with the Lost Experience online game? If so, you're going to be one of the first to learn what the numbers (4-8-15-16-23-42) mean. The string of numbers, of course, appear everywhere and only Hurley seems to know exactly how bad they are. But, why are they bad? Hopefully that question will be answered by the time season three starts. At least, that's what producers are promising.

So far this summer, Lost gamers have already learned what DHARMA stands for (Department of Heuristics and Research on Material Applications). Producers also promise more information about the Alvar Hanso Foundation.

The numbers when strung together give you a phone number to call. Hint hint.

If the numbers are to do with an orbiting satellite, that would be underwhelming.

I thought part of the numbers were explained in the book 'Bad Twin.' The digits 8-15-16 were given meaning within the context of that novel.

Did anyone read it? Am I way off?

#1, I wouldn't worry. I'l bet everything that is learned in the game, which I don't play either, either doesn't matter or will be learned in the first couple of episodes of the new season.

Is anyone else worried that Lost has left them behind? I don't have the time or the inclination to play this game. Will I still be able to enjoy the show next season?
