(S02E08) What does it take to get into Supernova? Last year, the rules were simple: sound enough like the late Michael Hutchence to front INXS but not so much that you seem to be part of an INXS tribute band. This season Gilby seems to be looking for someone to make him believe in rock and roll again, Jason just seems to be looking for this show to end and we all know what Tommy Lee is looking for.Storm Large gets the encore and celebrates with a bit of a booty shake at the beginning and an exhausted stage flop at the end. Not my favorite performance but I do love her energy. She sure has the attention of one T. Lee. The bottom three are Patrice, Zayra and Phil.
Patrice sings "My Iron Lung" by Radiohead. She runs around and does a peppy job of things. It's a better performance than last night but still, there's something about her that just doesn't stick in the mind.
The ever-humble Zayra sings "Not An Addict". She's much better on slow speed than she is on fast. But I am biased by my love of this song. Imagine Dilana doing this song and it's clear that Zayra needs to leave.
Phil sings a song called "Smoking Umbrellas" which I have never heard before. He tries to curb the infamous head wobble and he sings at the very top of his lungs. Everyone really tries hard tonight, it's a tougher choice than one might think so you have to think that last night's performance should be a factor.
Patrice gets the save and sits down. It's down to Zayra and Phil and Phil gets booted because they "question his commitment" to the band. The other rockers are shocked. Phil had to go sooner or later and now is just fine with me, even the way he said the word "mellow" made me sleepy but I think this should have been Zayra's week to say goodbye.
