Taylor Hicks writing a memoir, for some reason

Taylor HicksDespite the gray hair, American Idol champ Taylor Hicks is only 29. So can someone explain to me why he's already writing his memoirs (if he is indeed writing them, he'll probably get a co-writer)?

Hicks just got a $750,000 advance from Random House to pen his life story, titled Heart Full Of Soul. The book will be in stores next spring.

Is there anything about Hicks that we don't already know from all of the interviews he's given and all of the family and behind the scenes stuff we've seen on Idol?

I can't wait for the Taylor Hicks Xbox game and the line of Taylor Hicks clothing. Don't laugh, it could happen.

""""1. The question is not why would Taylor take $750,000 to write his memoirs. That seems pretty obvious. The question is why anyone would by such a book.

Taylor Hicks is a genuine American original who is living the American dream. His personality radiates and he connects with others in a personal way. Hopefully the book can capture some of his magnetic personality and provide inspiration to a new generation of Americans. I have never felt as personally connected to a singer in my life. I hope his music and book are best sellers. Taylor Hicks is a phenomenon. Go Taylor Go!!!

I can see Taylor's book becoming a "Must Read" for all future Idol contestants. hmmm.

Even beyond Idol, a motivational story that possibly even corporate HR groups may utilize as an uplifting in-line with an "anything can happen if you put your mind to it" type of presentation. Point on effective ways to market yourself, like the Ford tune, "Possibilities", there are many, and a movie forthcoming; I'd not discount that Possibility either.

Taylor Hicks is an interesting individual with gifts to offer outside of his beloved music.

Groove on Soulman.

I have to laugh at you guys who "hate" Taylor Hicks. I have never in my life heard a more bunch of whining babies in my life. You guys are just nasty and sore losers! Hmm.. let me guess I bet all of you just "loved" Chris Daughtry huh? As for Taylor's book, I'm going to be the smart one and buy the first copy in my area as it will most likely be worth a little bit someday when Taylor is as big as Elvis Presley once was! Take that to the bank! Go Taylor! The smart ones love you !!!!

What everyone is forgetting or not mentioning is that Taylor did not ASK for this book to be written; Someone with knowledge of the music industry approached HIM. So this someone with the knowledge of music and the knowledge of what readers like, is willing to put this book on the shelves. Random House certainly wouldn't commit to something that isn't going to give them their ROI (Return On Investment).

In my opinion, those who stated that they won't buy or read Taylor's book are jealous and dislike seeing a person succeed. Taylor is a talented performer who wants to share his zest and love for music, plus inspire others who are also struggling to find a place in the competitive music world. America is a free country, so let the man write his memoirs, and if you think you can do better, get busy writing yours.

I will buy his book. I bought David Crosby's and Neil Young's... I'm pretty sure this book won't be like those... he hasn't gone in for a liver transplant yet and Neil has miles and miles on him careerwise,,,but he's a great musician... a true southern original with a great twang,, unusually great taste in music for a 29 year old and will, I think, be an american legend one day.

I do agree with whomever said they'd rather buy this vs princess kat's book. Go for it Taylor! If someone is willing to finance he would be stupid to not do it. He was probably approached by them vs the other way around.

He has probably lived quite a colorful life. Doubt i will buy the book but i bet many will. This season of AI is hawt dawg.

BOB...YOU ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION. DON'T YOU READ WHAT YOU WRITE? $750,000 IS A GOOD REASON TO WRITE A BOOK. WOULD YOU WRITE ONE IF ASK, FOR $750,000?

TAYLOR HAS A LOT TO SHARE WITH OTHERS ABOUT HIS ROAD TO SUCCESS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S HIS MUSIC, A BOOK, HIS DANCING, HIS GRAY HAIR, THAT ATTRACTS US.

WE'RE STICKING WITH THIS GUY BECAUSE HE HAS AWAKENED SOMETHING INSIDE OF A GROUP CALLED "SOUL PATROLLERS" AND WE LIKE IT. THERE'S A LOT OF US AND WE AREN'T LEAVING HIM.

SO ALL OF YOU BELLY ACHERS JUST TAKE A SEAT AND WATCH THIS GUY DO WHAT YOU WOULD LOVE TO DO...BUT YOU CAN'T BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE US OR THE TALENT. TAYLOR'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE BUT "GOLD"!
