The 4400 info learned from Jacqueline McKenzie web chat

Concita Campbell and Jaqueline McKenzieI listened in on Sunday's BuddyTV 4400 chats (which are now archived) with Aussie actress Jaqueline McKenzie who plays NTAC's Diana Skouris on the show. She certainly appeared to enjoy herself while hosting, and spent two one-hour-length sessions with fans gamely attempting to keep up with a flood of questions. Here's a few things we found out:
  • When the series began, the creative staff definitely would have said there was no chance Diana and her NTAC partner Tom Baldwin, would ever get together romantically. However, after being impressed with the way actor Joel Gretsch has played the character, founding deeper layers within him -- any number of unimagined possibilities have opened up. It still might not happen, but it's not off the table.
  • McKenzie said she doesn't often give input to the writers in what she'd like to see for her character, but would like Diana's father show up in an episode one day. Long time fans will remember that Diana's flaky sister showed up for an arc last season, and attempted to exploit Maya's abilities. In that episode we also learned the Diana and her sisters' own mother is dead, so Diana has an interesting family life the explore.
  • Conchita Campbell (who plays adopted-daughter Maya) keeps charge of the Vancouver shooting set's swear jar, and McKenzie is one of its steady contributors.
  • Oh, and actor Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, (who plays Richard) mercifully, mostly goes by Ali.
Jacqueline McKenzie has two songs available to hear free on her MySpace account.

I didn't realize she was Australian until the other day.

Frankly, having rarely seeing many of the Canadian actors in other shows I just assumed she was from there, what with the McKenzie name and all.
