Entourage: I Wanna Be Sedated

(S03E10) Well this was certainly a step in the right direction. An episode that actually tied in with the show as a whole. But you knew it was coming. The first two seasons ended with Vince choosing his next project and then going off to make it. So it was only a matter of time before someone stumbled onto it and while Turtle was searching for Saigon, Vince was having a midday romp with an engaged woman, and Drama was being... well Drama, Eric found the next Vincent Chase project.
After ignoring Vince and E for over a week while unpacking his new office, Ari finally got some visitors. Two actually. First Eric, demanding to know why Ari seemed to have forgotten about Vince and then Bob Ryan stopped by. Ryan, played wonderfully by Martin Landau (is there anyone this show can't get?!?), is a washed up producer with a hall of fame resume. In the world of Entourage, Ryan was behind films like Midnight Cowboy, Dog Day Afternoon, and a list of others.
Now he's getting older and his legacy is on his mind. So Bob keeps bugging Ari to send him someone good. Seeing an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, Ari sends Eric off with Bob. As Lloyd points out, that's just cruel. Bob is old, seems sort of crazy, is definitely a little senile, and ends almost every sentence with the phrase, "is that something you might be interested in?"
Meanwhile, Vince meets an incredibly good-looking girl at the bookstore and the two end up getting naked. It goes great and Vince really seems to like her. He even wants to see her again the following day. Not gonna happen. Turns out that while she's flattered that Vince likes her, she's engaged and the only reason she slept with him is because he's on her "list." What list would that be? Try the list of "celebrities I'm allowed to sleep with if given the chance." She and her fiancé both made one. Talk about a blow. Although, if you think about, Vince was just used for sex. From that angle, it doesn't sound so bad.
The thing with Turtle and Saigon sort of put me off. They put it on the back-burner all season and now it was as if the writers were scrambling for a way to tie it up and write it out. That's exactly what they did. In short, Saigon signed with another label and his old manager behind Turtle's back. But Saigon made peace and gave Turtle his share of the signing bonus ($40K) that he was originally entitled to. End of story. Lame if you ask me. But at least Turtle has some cash of his own now.
Then there was Eric. While attempting to find a way out of Bob Ryan's mansion, Eric noticed a picture of Ryan with Joey Ramone. Ryan casually mentioned that he had a script about The Ramones lying around somewhere. They found it. Eric read it and loved it. Vince read it. And then it ended up on Ari's desk. Two episodes left and I think it's safe to assume what film Vince is making next. Oh, and the title? I Wanna Be Sedated.
Best Quotes:
Turtle (making fun of Drama's detective skills): "What, are you auditioning for Medium jerk-off?"
Bob Ryan (trying to impress Eric): "How would you like to see Candy Bergen playing tennis in her underwear... fantastic ass."
