Blade: Turn of the Screw

Kirk Jones as (S01E08) Turns out the purebloods aren't all child vampires anyway, as another one show up this week: Alex. He is played by Kavan Smith, who's now the hardest working man on cable original scifi television, as he also plays Major Lorne on Stargate Atlantis and Agent Garrity on The 4400.

So Alex the pureblood is a smoothie and way into Chase. He tries to buy Chase from Marcus -- for Chase's own good, of course. Marcus' is about as unpopular with other vampires as he is with Blade. Jessica Gower who plays Chase, shows Marcus -- and us -- her backside, just she we can be sure that she's totally healed from her near-ash experience in Berlin with Blade a few weeks ago.
Krista turned her Mom into a vampire last week (an extreme-yet-effective cancer cure) but quickly loses track of her this week. She has to turn to Blade for help. Since she stocked up by raiding Blade's serum supply (not to mention adding to the vampire population) he's a tad upset with her. Krista's mom -- Lisa -- heads to the uncle's house. Long story short, that's it for the Starr clan. I thought Krista had a Dad in the pilot, but guess I was wrong. Next Blade and Krista follow Lisa to Cthon headquarters, where Lisa get quickly tagged by disinterest underlings for disposal. Then, just as happened after Boone was turned, Lisa breaks out of her bonds and attacks her ambulance drivers. House of Cthon really has to come up with a more effective means of pest control.

Good episode, I like when they go light on all the Aurora vaccine stuff, and have something immediate to do, like track down Krista's mom. And just when I thought Marcus was on the way out, he pulls a nice switch on the pureblood Alex. Pretty grody special effects -- purebloods sure don't go quietly.

If this show is supposed to be taken off from the third movie, where is the vampire killing virus that they killed Drac with?

I guess that would make life a little too easy on Blade.

Yeah that was a really great episode. Sucks it's only on once a week though.

Did anyone else notice the "strap" that Chase was wearing to appear as being topless? Or was that a scar on her body?

The pureblood character belonged to the same house that Deacon Frost took over in the first *Blade* film. Nice continuity reference on the part of the series.

I very tight and suspensful episode. From Krista and the other chick vampire duking it out all the way to Krista having to ash her mom. I like how Krista found her mom in the ambulance feeding and mom said she was a little busy. And there's Blade whipping the sword out read to slice, dice, and ash away.

And wow! Does Chase have a hot little nekkid backside. Now if we can just get Krista like that.

I liked having an Aurora-lite episode, but we now know that Aurora plus the virus-goo from the 'pregnant' lady equals pure-blood insta-kill gas.

And where's this whole FBI sub-plot going? And is the agent's boss a familar? Or would that be too easy? And where's Boone?

Great episode and I am extremely pleased with this series so far. 5 more episodes to go kids!

And thanks for pointing out Major Lorne there, I couldn't place him even though I watch SG-1 and Atlantis every week (if Alex picked up a P90 for some reason last nite I would've figured it out).

Actually, we already knew that the purebloods aren't all child vampires. An "adult" pureblood showed up in the episode "Delivery". His name was Dominic, played by Brent Stait. He was the one trying to make a deal with the House of Chthon. (It looks like he may be coming back.)
