Tennis Channel to air French Open

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 24th 2006 6:07PM

French OpenSo now what am I supposed to do? I'm not as into the French Open as I am other tournaments (I'm more of a U.S. Open/Wimbledon man), but I like to watch some of the ESPN coverage of the event. But now the tennis tournament will be seen on The Tennis Channel, the premium sports channel that reaches about 10 million homes (though NBC will still carry the semis and finals).

Does anyone out there have The Tennis Channel? What's it like?

What a silly move. This means 90% of American viewers will have to skip all non NBC (weekend) viewing of the French Open! i.e. Tennis channel isn't on most cable systems and unlikely to be offered.

I hope ESPN shows another Challenger event during that time.

I've got the Tennis Channel on Dish Network, did not request it, nor want it, just showed up one day.

Yeah I'm also bummed out about this. I like all the Grand Slams being in ESPN2. As you said I'm not a big French Open fanatic, but it was nice watching it from time to time.

Oh well... US Open is here. I'm SO psyched.
