Kevin Federline's second acting gig: Entourage

by Anna Johns, posted Aug 31st 2006 11:45AM
kevin federlineI'm trying to figure out HBO's angle on a story I saw last night on MSNBC. Apparently, Kevin Federline has been cast for at least one episode of the next season of Entourage. He'll play a deadbeat husband of a celebrity. No acting required. Kevin says he's up for it, even if it means poking fun at himself (I'm pretty damn sure that's what it means, Kev).

If you can't wait until next year, you can see Kevin take his first stab at acting on CSI, where he'll play a punk who harasses investigators.

Is still a role that would be far better suited for someone playing a Kevin Federline clone. Like Jamie Kennedy. You know, someone who might actually be funny. The BEST you can hope for with Kevin Federline is that he doesn't mess up in the part. This isn't Joe Pesci making a cameo as himself on SNL or David Duchovny hitting on Larry Sanders. This is a guy who has even less of a reason to be famous than Paris Hilton, and who, at the Teen Choice Awards, proved himself to be a pretty rotten performer as well.

Besides, I wasn't basing my opinion solely on Kevin Federline. There's been plenty of other reasons I've been disappointed with Entourage this season.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing "jump the shark". "Jumping the shark" because of a crappy casting decision--NO WAY!!! I agree w/ Jennifer. This is a role that suits this talentless piece of crap. I mean, he is going to play "a deadbeat husband of a celebrity". HE IS PERFECT FOR THIS ROLE. Plenty of talentless losers have been hired to fill roles, and he is just another in that long line.

I hate to defend K-Fed, but at least this role sounds more suited towards his lack of talents than the one on CSI. Besides, Entourage makes fun of this kind of thing anyway.

That's it. The shark has been jumped. The fact that they'd even think of hiring this guy just cements the obsession with coolness and topicality at the expense of both character development and plot that has been the focus of this last season.

Not that this news in and of itself means anything, it just tells me that I can't even trust the creators' instincts anymore.

Why are people giving this guy money???..... He has about as much personality as a blade of grass....I think I'd rather watch grass grow over watching him "rap", act, whatever... That's what I can't stand about this PRISON HELL we call life. All us hardworking normal people keep working hard for what we got when lame good for nothing useless worthless people like Kevin ( and Britney ) sit back and collect checks. I hope you enjoy you enjoy while it lasts, Kev, cuz people are going to get awfully bored awfully fast.
