NBC turns to Pink for football anthem

by Anna Johns, posted Aug 31st 2006 9:58AM
pinkNBC made the interesting choice of pop star Pink to create the network's anthem for Sunday night football. The song is called Waiting All Day for Sunday Night and it's described as "a re-worked version of Joan Jett's I Hate Myself for Loving You. It premieres before NFL football debuts on NBC on Sept. 10.

NBC released a statement explaining why it chose Pink, "because she is a tremendous talent with a crossover appeal that makes her relevant to all segments of our audience." As for Pink? She's just a big fan of football.

I liked the song better when I heard it the first time...you know, when it was called "I Hate Myself For Loving You." What an overrated, under-talented hack.

Is there anyone in Hollywood that *doesn't* lean left?? As far as Pink goes, I don't know much about her music. I'll hold off on judging it until I actually hear the song. I didn't think Hank Williams Jr. was a good choice for the MNF theme, but that song grew on me after a while...

Pink is an amazing artist. I'm glad that she is doing the theme song. Maybe I will tune in more to football now. As far as W Grandy's comment about her being in the far left political genre in Hollywood, who cares? I don't listen to artists, watch actors, or be friends with people based on their political views. We need to stop being the left or the right, rich or the poor, republican or democrat, and just be plain old Americans for once.

Man, I saw Pink recently on one of the good morning type shows and she looked pretty rough. She has gained weight and just looked like somebody who had been rode hard and put up dirty. Her voice was scratchy, more than usual, and she couldn't hold a long note. She is also deep into the far left politcal genre of Hollywood.
