Rich's Fall TV Schedule

by Richard Keller, posted Sep 12th 2006 7:14PM

Studio 60Believe it or not, I don't watch much TV. With two daughters, five- and three-years-old respectively, and a set of five-month-old fraternal twins (boy and girl), there really isn't much time in the schedule to sit down and watch a show on a regular basis. Heck, by the time I turn on the television some evenings it's to watch Futurama and Family Guy on Adult Swim. So, the shows I do choose are ones that I know I'll watch on the regular basis because I'm reviewing them for TV Squad, or because I've already committed years of time on them already. With that in mind, here is the breakdown of what I'll be watching this fall.

Sunday: With Sunday Night Football dominating the NBC schedule for the first half of the television season, and the fact I do not watch football (yes, I'm un-American. So deport me!), I won't be watching much this day. I will probably get back into The Simpsons and Family Guy (and King of the Hill when it returns) this year since The West Wing is no longer with us.

Monday: I am actually not home during prime-time, so the DVR will be up and running for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I've seen bits of the show in previews, and it looks extremely good. If it can hook me over the first few weeks I will certainly put it in series mode on the recorder. I will also record 7th Heaven because I want to see what the hell they're going to do after the entire Camden clan was pregnant with twins.

Tuesday: This and Thursday will probably the busiest nights. I'll watch Gilmore Girls hoping and praying that the loss of the show's creators didn't screw it up for what may be its last season. I'll record both Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Law & Order: SVU. I actually liked the detective split they employed last season on CI and I hope it continues this time around. I really got burnt out on SVU last season; it seemed like there was more focus on Detectives Benson and Stabler than in previous seasons. With Mariska Hargitay on maternity leave I hope that her replacement on the show will give SVU a fresh breath of creativity. Also that evening, I will be watching and recording Boston Legal for coverage on TV Squad. Because I was covering SVU last season I didn't have a good chance to watch the show on a regular basis, but I certainly enjoyed what I saw when I did catch a glimpse. Finally, I'll have to find a way to either watch or record Scrubs and The Shield when it returns in the winter. Man, Tuesday is going to be a tough day!

Wednesday: Bones and The Nine, and that's it for the evening. Bones is for TV Squad coverage, and also because I am beginning to get attached to the show. The Nine because it looks like it's going to be one of the best shows on the fall schedule, even better than Studio 60.

Thursday: Another tough night. I'll watch as well as record My Name is Earl and The Office. I cannot miss an episode of The Office. The 'Booze Cruise' episode really made me fall in love with the show, and I hope that they can carry the creative genius they implemented last season into this one. Then, I cover Celebrity Duets and ER for TV Squad. I see good things this year for the staff at County General. They really tied up some loose ends and ended alot of stories last season. With the addition of John Stamos to the cast, and the impending birth of Doug and Carol's Abby and Luka's baby, it looks like we might have a bit of a rebirth for the 13-year-old series.

Friday: Battlestar Galactica, of course. Oh, I'll go back to Psych when it returns in January, but I'll be watching BSG when it returns in October.

Saturday: This will probably be Netflix night at the house, followed by me recording SNL. My curiosity is piqued at this upcoming season. With so many people either leaving or being let go, it will be interesting to see how the slimmer sketch comedy show does. However, if I see another episode of Laser Cats I'm pulling the plug.

Richard,

I guess I'll have to be deported too. I don't watch much football except for my old college's games, and even them I'm not tied down to it. I haven't seen an NFL game in fifteen or more years. The only sports I watch besides the few college FB games is a bit of the Summer Olympics.

You guys should break up TV Squad. Make a reality TV Squad and keep TV Squad for non reality shows. :)
