Here are the winners of the Couric sign-off contest

Katie Couric on the Evening NewsA couple of weeks ago, I asked you to come up with possible CBS Evening News sign-offs for Katie Couric, then I extended the contest last week. Well, between the two posts, we received almost 100 responses. Some of you sent multiple entries. Others of you went for the wacky or the dirty (you know who you are). Still others decided to take the time to send responses like "I'm Katie Couric. Good night," thinking that their straightforwardness was going to get them some stars (it wasn't). There were a lot of good choices, but here are the ones I thought were the best:

First place: Three stars go to Chris W for "I'm Katie Couric, and that's my colon."
Second place: Two stars go to chestermcjester for "I'm Katie Couric, suck it Charlie Gibson."
Third place: One star goes to Wendell Wittler for "Will Iraq fall to Civil War? Will the Housing Bubble burst? Will Paris Hilton say something else stupid? Find out tomorrow on our next episode!"

Honorable mentions: My gratitude (sorry, that's all I've got) goes to:
Fred for "I'm Katie Couric. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow..."

Unless I read it somewhere in fantasy land, it was clearly stated that this was only for fun, to have a laugh, let off some steam, get your kicks, yada, yada, yada...

After all, this site is all about television, which is entertainment...which is supposed to be fun!

I know I am a bit late but I had to get this Couric sign-off in:

" Tonight is my last broadcast on the CBS Evening News"

I watched it for the second time tonite (19th) and was struck by this: Couric looks just like she is on the Today show doing Ann Curry's news. Ann, of course, does it much better. CBS couldn't have hired Curry?
