Madonna may pull out of NBC concert

by Anna Johns, posted Sep 22nd 2006 9:32AM
madonna crucifySurprise, surprise. NBC is reportedly getting cold feet over plans to air a Madonna concert in which she crucifies herself. The New York Daily News reports that NBC is being pressured by the American Family Association to censor the explicit portions of Madonna's concert. Of course, Madonna does not like to be censored and she is threatening to pull her concert off the air entirely. The crucifixion is in her Confessions tour and Madonna says the point of it is not to shock the audience, but it's a plea for people to help one another.

You are so foolish if you can't see Madonna's very positve message. Yes she has challenged her Catholic raising. But who wouldn't given the number of sex crimes that the church has allowed its Priests to get away with.....

I've seen the show and the crucifix number is no big deal AT ALL! She comes up out of the floor on the cross singing "Live To Tell" a hit from 1986. While singing the ballad on the cross, video screens show the tragedy in Africa regarding AIDS and famine. How this is blasphemous is beyond me. By the way, she is fully dressed during this number in a blouse and pants. Now people, find something else in the world to bitch about. Better yet, donate to help some of those children in Africa that need your aid.

I have one question: How many of you that are criticizing her for what she will do in her concert actually plan on watching it on NBC? None of you, as I thought. Madonna/NBC is doing this for her fans that didn't get to see this tour because every show has been SOLD OUT. People that are fans of Madonna's expect this type of demonstration, she likes to push it. If she didn't she wouldn't be any better than Pat Boone (which I suggest all you that are complaining go back and listen to and leave Madonna alone). NBC stands to make gazillions of dollars from airing this. Let Madonna do her concert the way she wants to and the rest of you "moral majority" types watch CBN and leave the rest of us alone.

Please do not show this program on TV. It is a disgrace to offend the cross, a primary symbol of Christianity around the world!

Thank you.

Okay... people need to learn that we have this little phrase in our constitution "Freedom of Speech". This country shouldn't be dictated by one group of people. And in response to the person who said there would be an uproar about a swastika... It would be offensive... because the swastika is a hate symbol. The cross represents faith... she is just asking people to have faith and help eachother. She is doing a good thing. So shut up and let her do her thing, because she has more courage than anyone who hates on her for her boldness.

Ok, first off, what about people who aren't religious and not Christians, don't we get a say too?? Or is it people who are just offended and don't have a grip on their religion who get the last word?? I'm sorry, but if this offends you, then don't watch it. Madonna can do what she pleases and getting up on a cross is just fine by me. Nobody has exclusive rights to the cross and Madonna is not disrespecting anyone. I went to her concert and when she sings Live To Tell on the cross it was very moving. RELIGION BREEDS FRAGMENTATION and at the end of the day I am glad that I don't conform to the mold. Thank you Madonna for opening people's eyes and letting them see that what they preach usually isn't what they practice!!!!

yet more ignorance:

"She is awful and does outrageous things to only make money. She is such a bad example to our kids also. She has no class, talent or intelligence"

Lets see...outrageousness isn't entertainment? Who said she had to be an example to kids? She has come a long way, and said she made mistakes along the way. By the way, she did make wonderful Childrens books which are about sharing and understanding and peace and love..all elements of Christianity, no? And as for no class, talent or intelligence...that's just a matter of opinioin. Let's see, she has made over $200million this past 5 months selling out her Confessions tour. Yeah, and she's a no talent?! IDIOT!
