Stargate Atlantis: The Return, Part 1

Did they find another ZPM ? And is one of those Dakara style transmuter towers somewhere in Pegasus ?

First, the takeover of Atlantis by the Lanteans was typical of their behaviour; they are dismissive of anyone not as tech advanced as they are, and they tend to end up with their heads handed to them because of it. Second, no one mentioned that Caldwell made a reference to the Lanteans having a hand in the emergence of the Wraith as a species, Third, what kind of flarking maniacs leave a matter transmuter lying around for just and idiot to find ? The Lanteans remind me of the Jedi of the Old Republic, too arrogant, and close minded to see that their solutions to probelms don't tend to work...

I also thought it was a good episode. I haven't really found a good place to discuss atlantis and i don't really know what's happening with it. Last season the ratings and viewership seemed pretty good. Now SG-1 and Atlantis have taken a plunge (not in quality imo but in the number of people watching). I fear that Atlantis might fall in a season or two to the knife but i hope maybe a consolidated effort can keep people interested. Eureka is not a sufficient alternative. What do you think about Atlantis's future?

Okay, I was going along enjoying your review thoroughly (and pretty much agreeing with it, though my son says they got a lot wrong with the WOW scene) when WHAM! I came across this sentence:

It was pretty interesting to see all the reactions to the characters loosing Atlantis.

It's bad enough that fanfic writers everywhere can't tell the difference between "loosing" something (how do you set a city loose?) and "losing" it -- please, let's not have professional writers falling into the same trap! Hopefully that was just a glitchy typo kind of thing . . .

I really enjoyed this one. They made some interesting progress here too. Namely:

1) They have a new ZPM powering the city.
2) They finished the trans-galactic stargate bridge that was discussed a few episodes ago.

Now, I'm guessing that the team will retake Atlantis somehow. What I am wondering is whether any of the Ancients will still be alive by the end of the episode.

Easy Chris, without SG1 and Command there would never have been an Atlantis. They already said next season was the last, lets let them have one last GOOD year then we can all focus our complete attention on Atlantis.

A very solid episode. A much better mid-season finale than that TIRED horse, SG-1. And I have a LOT of problems w/ Atlantis. But all creative energy by Wright and Cooper should be focused on Atlantis. Otherwise. THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE OF STARGATE WILL BE DEAD IN A FEW YEARS. Please don't kill this franchise like the producers of Star Trek did.

Sure sounds like the "Ancients" to me.

That's how the Wraith problem got so bad. They we so convinced they were so superior that before they knew it they were on the losing end of a War of Attrition.

Now, like SG-1 bailing out the Asgard, the Atlantis group is going to bail out the "Ancients", and MAYBE earn a little respect.
