Justice: Wrongful Death

(S01E05) This is the last episode of Justice for an undetermined amount of time. Earlier this week, we reported that the show is going on early hiatus (along with Happy Hour) in advance of the World Series. FOX says the hiatus doesn't mean the show is getting canceled or is even in jeopardy, but, quite frankly I think it could be in jeopardy. While I like the gimmick of making us wait until the end of the show to see how the crime was really committed, the procedural is becoming awfully formulaic. How are you guys feeling about this show? This week, the victim is Jane Nicks, a 29-year-old mother who dies while riding on a roller coaster with her 14-year-old daughter, Mary. Jane, by the way, is the hottest janitor on the planet. TNT&G takes the daughter's side in a wrongful death case and they want $10 million. Automatically, we're seeing two new things here: 1) the client isn't accused of a crime, and 2) the client is a child. I'm glad they're mixing things up.

The team does its usual accident recreation and blah blah blah, but that's all minor. This episode is all about Ron Trott (Victor Garber). He doesn't give a damn about the kid, he wants to beat the rival attorney, for whom he has a burning hatred. I particularly enjoyed the scene where he flipped out on the opposing attorney during a taped deposition and demanded that the tape be turned over to him, suggesting that the attorney planned to leak it to the press. It turned out, Ron didn't think that at all, he just wanted the tape to play in front of a mock jury. Oh, and he goes on a business news show to try to get Pagonon's stock price to drop? Slimeball! I would've enjoyed his scenes a lot more if someone would put the freakin' camera on a freakin' tripod!!!

Of course, Ron gets too cocky in the courtroom and ends up opening a door for the defendents to blame the accident on the kid who ran the ride. The other attorneys have to hurry up and build a case against Pagonon and Ron is demoted from first chair. In the end, they win a $30 million settlement. (They're 5-0 for those of you keeping score) The actual crime was just as the attorneys said: Jane's seatbelt came undone and she flew up and hit the beam. I really want to see them get someone off who is guilty and it kind-of looks like that is going to happen if the promos are correct.

Re: Mike Hermann

You mean like my name you dumba**.

You are right you should get your facts right. It does not take a gunius to figure out that a 7 game series takes about 10 to 11 days to play due to "off days"
However, Incase you did not notice since Fox has had the MLB contract it has (and will continue to be) their MO to revamp the entire primetime schedule with previously high rated repeats. IE.. Bones! If the show is going on "hiatus" why does fox continue to run ads speaking of new episodes coming after the MLB playoff end? Oh, one more thing. Next time you want to argue maybe you should do it with someone who does not work for Fox. You should get out somemore and quit sitting infront of your TV all the time. See Ya!

I love when TV Squad gets rowdy!

I want to see a guilty person get away with it (only on this show, of course!)

And in case you (an arrogant "smart"-mouth) didn't know, FOX will not be airing a baseball playoff game next Wednesday, nor will they be airing Justice, hence the updates. The playoffs do indeed start on Tuesday, however a small organization in baseball called the "Player's Union" has days off built into the contract with the small "Major League Baseball" company you referred to. Justice was supposed to air next week, but as FOX announced this week it will go on hiatus one week early, and rather than air a new episode next week they will be airing a repeat of "Bones." Oh, one more thing.... next time you want to be overly sarcastic, you may want to get your facts right, it saves you from looking like a fool in the end.

The show is not cancelled and it is not concerned about lost! In case you TV experts did not know Fox has a contract with a little company called Major League Baseball. They will be airing the MLB playoffs till the end of October when Justice will return to the air on 10-30-06. But hay, thanks for the "updates" they are so useful.

I go back and forth with this show. It certainly has potential and the cast is actually quite good together -- they've really gelled into a cohesive group quickly. The problem I see is that it's becoming to formulaic, which is saying a lot for yet another crime procedural show. Also, they need to lose once in awhile. Even Johnny Cochran lost cases. Hopefully, this "hiatus" will give the show time to re-tool and come back better if FOX doesn't decide to ditch it.

It made no sense that the company could absolve itself of blame if they proved the accident was the employee's fault. Since when does hiring an unqualified kid to handle the safety of an amusement-park ride, then giving him little training and no supervision, make the park itself less, rather than more, responsible for the results?

Don't count out Justice just yet. Last night's ratings showed improvement of some 20% in viewers and some 27% in Adults 18-49 compared to last week.

Last night's ratings:

Last week:

I wonder if FOX will see this and keep it on the air.

I just can't stand the opening song. Does anyone feel that it drops the mood a little bit? I mean, I think what makes CSI Miami so awesome is how they start out the music with that riff! The Jusice's gotta go! As for the episodes, yea, it would be great for them to have some sort of guilty thing, I mean not everyone is innocent, however I love that they are using the ensemble more and making it less all about Victor Garber. Eamonn Walker is quite a presence and Kerr Smith is quite cute and vulnerable in the role.

I gave up on the show last week. I gave it three chances and I do like finding out the truth at the end and wish some of the other shows would do it. But this just feels like over acting and alot of gimmicks.

I like the show. I like the cast. But they really need to get a guilty person off. It's too touchy feely to have them save innocent people. Come on - let's get a slimeball off for once!
