Get ready for more McSteamy: Eric Dane joins Grey's Anatomy cast

Eric DaneJust got a press release from ABC announcing that Eric Dane is joining the cast of Grey's Anatomy on a full-time basis. Of course, every Grey's fan knows that Dane plays Dr. Mark Sloan, otherwise known as "McSteamy." Remember that Addison Shepherd (Kate Walsh) cheated on her husband Derek (Patrick Depmsey) with Sloan, prompting Derek to move to Seattle, where he met a certain skinny blonde intern.

Anyway, we saw Dane at the end of last night's episode, coming out of the bathroom in Addison's hotel room, right after she realized her marriage to Derek was truly over. Guess we'll see the two of them be a couple for a while now. Anything that keeps Walsh on the show is fine with me.

This is the second cast addition of the year; recall that Sara Ramirez (who plays Callie) also became a permanent cast member before the season started. The press release is after the jump.

Dane was most recently seen in this summer's blockbuster "X-Men: The Last Stand." His extensive television work includes a recurring role on "Charmed," "Vegas," the made-for-TV movie "Helter Skelter," and as a series lead on "Gideon's Crossing." Next, on the big screen, he can be seen in the Project Greenlight Film, "Feast."

although i love grey`s anatomy, i do hav a few questions:
1.Why are all the doctors so goodlooking esp drs.sheperd, montgomery, n sloane? its almost unrealistic.i do want to believe the fairytale of a young handsome brilliant brain surgeon who happens to a superslut for a one night stand.
2. aren`t doctors tired all the time? but these group seem to be superhuman strength bec. they have time to study n date, have sex all the time, drink everynight at joe`s,socialze,n still look perky the next day.wow
3.burke and cristina? not gonna happen. why? culture n family n personalities.one can only take so much...
4.as a brain surgeon, mcdreamy s a moron.he can`t decide properly bet mer and addison.where`s his brain?f he choose one, he shld stick with it.

THis is good news because that hopefully means Kate Walsh will also continue to stick around. She really is one of the bright spots on this show. The bad thing here is that the show's cast is getting way to big. Granted, ER also has a large cast, but the problem there is many of the characters get very little development over the years. There are a select few who step into the limelight (Clooney and Margulies come to mind), but for the most part overall character development sufferes. I hope that's not the case with Grey's.

Isn't Dr. Mark Sloan the name of Dick Van Dyke's character in Diagnosis Murder?

I figured they would bring him back to ad something else to the whole triangle thing. I have a feeling that Meridith isn't going to end up with either guy. And in addition, The relationship between McSteamy and Addison won't last very long.

You have indicated that Callie and Mark have been made permanent to the show, does that mean that Fin will not be a permanent addition to Grey's Anatomy?
