Fox extends 'Til Death's hiatus

by Anna Johns, posted Oct 3rd 2006 2:23PM
'til death cast'Til Death will stay off the air for an extra week after the World Series because star Brad Garrett is holding up production. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garrett was very unhappy with the latest script. That's actually a good reason to postpone a show... to make the script better. Unfortunately for Brad, it might not matter that much. The show is taking a beating on Thursday nights against Survivor and Ugly Betty. It'll be interesting to see that episode when it does get made, to see what Garrett considers a 'good' script.

I caught an episode last Sunday and it was actually pretty funny, in a traditional sitcom kind of way. Fox should try it out on Sunday considering The War at Home is predictably tanking in its new timeslot.

I really tried giving this show a chance.

Alas, it is not that funny. It almost seems like it's trying to force itself to be funny which is even worse.

Well, wait - does that mean that he thought the first script was good? This veteran of Everybody Loves Raymodn really and truly believed that naming a school vice principal "Woodcock", calling his blog "MyWoodcock" and saying things like "I'm sure mywoodcock will get lots of hits" were funny?

Is it me or is this guy making a career out of being a holdout? Didn't he do the same thing with Raymond? With the success of Studio 60 and the whole "backstage" thing, maybe that's his next sitcom right there. He can play a guy that holds up sitcom production.
