Fox wants Will Ferrell comedy pilot

by Anna Johns, posted Oct 5th 2006 8:37PM
will ferrellWill Ferrell may not be on television anymore, but his influence is still there. Fox is the latest network to enter into a production deal with the former SNL actor (Ferrell recently sold a comedy series to HBO). Fox has given pilot commitment to Church of Steve, a half-hour, single camera comedy about a New Jersey fellow who learns he's a descendant of Jesus. Yes, FOX is interested. I was blown away, too. Although, the Fox television network and the Fox News network are two entirely different animals run by the same man who may or may not be bi-polar. Church of Steve sounds like something that will pair well with Family Guy.

The constant ad hominem Fox and Murdoch attacks never lose their freshness. Simpsons, Arrested Development, Malcolm in the Middle, Futurama, Family Guy, etc. Yeah it's a real surprise that World Nutjob Supreme and (gasp) alleged conservative Rupert Murdoch would allow an irreverent comedy on his oppressive conservative network.

By the way, no one else was busting down the door for Arrested Development. I'm grateful to have gotten 3 seasons of it, and I'm grateful to Fox.

I can honestly say that nothing Will Ferrell's ever done has even come close to amusing or entertaining me. I find his humor lacking and his acting even worse. On the bright side, if he gets a show on FOX at least it won't be one more thing I'll want to watch! Gotta look for them silver linings...

I wasn't actually thinking about Fox News, but I can't image why anyone would want their comedy on Fox anyway, after the Arrested Development ordeal.
