Bionic Woman coming back to television

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 10th 2006 3:30PM

Bionic WomanI have a confession to make: I used to be in love with Lindsay Wagner.

Now, she didn't know anything about it, of course. I was around 11 years old, so she probably wouldn't have given me the time of day. But I bring this up because NBC is bringing back Wagner's Six Million Dollar Man spinoff The Bionic Woman. If you never saw it, here's a plot summary: teacher gets into accident, gets superpowers such as super hearing and strength, solves crimes for the government.

The show will be supervised by Battlestar Galactica producer David Eick, so we can expect a huge update of the story and how they go about it. Hey, as long as they don't have that damn bionic dog in it, I might check this out. I wonder they'll twist things like on Battlestar Galactica and make the Fembots all men?

Speaking of Wagner, is she doing anything else besides those Sleep Number bed commercials? She still looks great.

The New If So Bionic Woman WithOut Bionic. Is Not A Bionic Woman. I Read In A Paper That Usa And Nbc Is Making A New Bionic Woman With Bionic And A New Six Million Dollar Man By The Year 2008 Fall Season Its Not With Lindsay Wagner or Lee majors Its A Whole New Cast With Out A bionic Dog. And Also With another Bionic Sound. This Is The Future New Bionics Series. Its Going To Cost Lots Of Money To Make Them New .Its For The Kids And Familys. This Bionic Woman Is Blondie With Same Long Hair As Lindsay Wagners. I Tell All This I'll Stick With The 70s Series. And If It Comes Tobe I'll See The New Ones Too. I Know We fans Of Lindsay's Wagner And Lee Majors Will Still Love Them.

The Bionic Woman without bionics?!! That's insane! That'd be like re-making The Shaggy Dog(again) and casting a mexican hairless, or Scooby Doo being a cat, or Paris and Nicole being smart...

The horror.

Sorry guys, but this new version of "The Bionic Woman" will not even use bionics. If you read about it closely, they are just using the title only. There will be no bionics in this show. This will ruin any chances of a true spin-off, etc. NBC has lost their mind! True fans of the Bionic Woman will be outraged if they keep the title. JMO

Jack: Jamie started as a tennis pro before her accident, but after she got the bionic bits it was pretty obvious that she couldn't continue as an athlete anymore than Clark Kent could play college football, so she became a teacher when she wasn't working undercover for the OSI.

This is certainly an interesting idea and both of the bionic series could be re-imagined for a post-September 11 world quite well. Interesting that they chose the Bionic Woman. However, to hear David Eick talk about his ideas for the re-imagined Bionic Woman it sounds like he wants to create Working Girl meets The Bionic Woman, and that I would find boring. Considering the world we live in these days, a kick-ass woman who can run fast, leap tall buildings (less than six stories), and hear over long distances could be very exciting. Hopefully, they won't ruin the show.
