No more TV for Sarah Michelle Gellar

by Brett Love, posted Oct 10th 2006 9:02PM
Sarah Michelle GellarSarah Michelle Gellar says that she doesn't think she could ever do a one hour series again because it is too exhausting. The former Buffy star goes on to say, "A movie is an hour and twenty minutes, and we were filming almost that every week." By almost that she means 45 minutes. It's possible that she may have vowed to never take another math class at some point too.

I don't put a lot of weight behind her proclamation though. Sarah Michelle is having a good run of it with the movies right now. With The Grudge 2 in theaters, three other movies in post-production, and two more in pre-production, her plate is awfully full. And I am really looking forward to Alice. Still, those runs have a way of drying up, and we have seen all manner of movie stars come back to the small screen. A few years from now maybe, if the choice is random drama on random network or Scooby Doo 5, TV might look pretty good.

SMG is a great actress and Buffy was a great show.I don't blame her for not wanting to do another hour long drama. It's a very hard schedule and she did it for seven seasons.Plus she was very unhappy in the later seasons with the Buffy/Spike stuff. What I would love and something she has said she's open to doing is a Buffy film depending on the script from Joss Whedon.Nothing would please me more then to see that and get that big Buffy/Angel reunion we didn't get due to the premature canceling of Angel. To see Buffy and Angel back together.Something DB also said he would be up for on the big screen.Gellar even offered to do the last episode of Angel just to see Buffy/Angel reunited but Joss Whedon couldn't fit her into the storyline by that point due to the cancellation.

I think she should count her lucky stars. She's a medium talent with medium looks. She should shut up and just be happy she is working.

SMG is actually a decent actress, and I'm not just saying that as an uninformed opinion, I have a drama degree and I know good acting from bad acting. I agree with the person who said that the Buffy series had great dialogue, witty and fun characters and interesting plots. The show demographic was supposedly those much younger than I am, yet I enjoyed watching Buffy for the great scriptwriting and enchanting characters. Joss Wedon went on to do Firefly, which was another wonderful show that I loved watching for much the same reasons as I watched Buffy. I have heard from actors in the business that acting in series TV is grueling, and I can certainly understand why SMG prefers movies to TV shoots. I say more power to her in her search for a career that allows her to have a life outside of work.

SMG, NEVER bite the hand that FED you! If BIG name Stars are coming back to TV, ther is a reason, and it is not for lack of work. It is for the schedules afforded them to see their families. Maybe when you have a kid ( if ever) you'll understand the concepts better

Buffy was a great show. It was a total metaphor. The writing was fantastic and the characters were all unique. The dialogue was quick and witty. Critics loved Buffy. I'm always surprised when people say it's silly. The only thing I can think is those people just didn't get it, because unlike most shows on tv it didn't just throw it's message out there so accessibly for the common folk.

Don't knock Sarah Michelle Gellar's talents! She's a can-doster and her talents should be applauded by the entire entertainment community!I watched all 7 seasons totalling 144 episodes of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" on 2 networks:The WB & UPN[Now signed off]and i came to my personal conclusion that the series was from Satan and his foul demon spirits of high fantasies and imaginations! No wonder the series is on all christian families God and Jesus anointed, assigned "Must Flee TV"list!I hope Mrs.Freddie Prinze Jr.'s next romantic comedy"The Girl's Guide To Hunting and Fishing"does'nt end up underated like"Simply Irresistible"[1999]!

I don't think it's Sarah Michelle Gellar's goal to be a HUGE star. She's never sought the limelight or chased the media. She's normal and that's what I love so much about her. I think she'll take roles as long as she enjoys what she's doing I don't think she has the capacity to be a wash-up she's too smart. If you've ever read or watched her in interviews she's such a refreshing change from young hollywood idiots.

Sara is one of the beautiful people inside and out. Yes Buffy was a silly unrealistic show...but i loved it. It was an escape from the reality of what is really going on in this world. I would love to see Buffy, Dawn, Spike, Xander, and Willow come back to tackle a new Hellmouth in another city. maybe even join up with Angels group in Los Angelos. Sara is a very entertaining actress and it would be a shame if she were to disappear from television altogether. It is good to think someone is out there trying to clean up her hometown of it's nastiness. The faces of vamps may be seen as gangs or drugs she is my superhero.
