Dancing With the Stars: Week 5 Results show

by Brett Love, posted Oct 12th 2006 7:11AM
Willa & Maksim - Dancing With the Stars(S03E10) And here we are for another week of results. After a recap of performance night, the judges choose Jerry & Kym for the encore. bhivxcvvyvbndij <-- That's what hitting myself in the head with the keyboard looks like in text. Am I just not getting the attraction to Jerry?

Things take a turn for the better as Rod Stewart performs Hot Legs while Edyta and Kym dance. This was really good. Rod's still got it. A bit of a departure from what we are used to seeing Edyta and Kym doing, but still fun. They both looked great and did a nice job.

The first results put Mario & Karina and Monique & Louis into the safe zone. That leads into the disco freestyle routine. Very fun, with a bonus for choosing Boogie Wonderland as the music. Great song. The end was spectacular, with the girls being flipped and tossed all over.

Rod comes back to do Fooled Around And Fell In Love. I think this is my favorite musical guest so far. If you have to kill time, there are worse ways to do it than listening to him sing. Tom and Samantha reveal that Sara & Tony are safe while Jerry & Kym are in the bottom two. For a minute there I was thinking maybe there would be an end to the madness.

Emmit & Cheryl move on to next week along with Joey & Edyta. That leaves Willa & Maksim in the bottom two with Jerry & Kym. In the end, Willa & Maksim leave. And the crowd boos. Jerry didn't really look that happy to be moving on. I wanted to see Willa stick around a while longer, but that's how the game works. It was a nice run for her.

How many of you that are complaining about the show actually voted?

The fact that this is a popularity contest rather than a dance contest should be obvious. When people get to vote for the contestants even before the first couple dances it becomes a popularity battle. When you allow however many votes per email address in a world with GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and a host of other online email sites in addition to what your ISP supplies you with it becomes a popularity contest. I haven't voted this year for just that reason - the people who should be on get voted off because hardly anyone knows them. I just watch the dancing and tune in for th elast three minutes of the results show to confirm that the best people are beign voted off.

Sara should have gone home long ago. Jerry should have gone home this week. Willa has worked hard and come so far. This should be based on the judges score only or at least judges 75% and fans 25%. Also, only 1 or 2 calls per phone number should be allowed, not the 8 or whatever they were allowing. To make this not look rigged they need to revamp their scoring so it is fair.

Jerry's dance was fun to watch BUT, Willa was much better. And I love country music BUT, Sara not singing.
Jerry and Sara need to go. And yes I voted

Willa & Maksim should have stayed - Sara or Jerry should have gone. This is for dancing, not a popularity contest and obviously the fans are poplar voting. Let's look at improvement in the dancing - Emmett, Willa & Monique.

I have to agree with a couple of the posts. This is a show about professional dancers taking someone who has no training (or supposedly no training) and teach them in a few weeks differnt styles of dance to see how they compare. This is definately not a true dance competition contest.

So far, the only one I have truly noticed that has absolutely no dance training(he admits it) is Jerry Springer. He only wanted to go as far as to learn to waltz so he could waltz with his daughter at her wedding.

I am glad to see Emmett and Cheryl go on. He is truly working hard to be as good as he can and, so far, has proved he is very good for a non-professional. Mario and Karina seemed for a couple of weeks straight in a row to do absolutely what they wanted and not abide by the rules. They should have been removed on the second time of this childish behavior. Now, we just get to see his head hanging like a chastized child and go with her spoiled tantrums. Enough is enough.

Joey and Edyta are ok, although he did try one week to follow Mario's lead and found out real quick it didn't work.

Sara can't dance. Enough said. She should have gone in week 2. An incredible singer, yes...a dancer...absolutely not.

Although I do like to watch Louis dance, enough of Monique. I'm tired of the pouty look and attempting to act sexy or whatever.

I have to admit, I could have been in Willa's corner if it had not been for the week she made the smart remark about Harry Hamlin. It was a total example of unprofessionalism and she lost me right there. When Lisa Renna(sp) was asked by an insider reporter who she thought may loose (she had a part on the show as a reporter for Dancing w/the Stars) she did say that she thought Willa would go. The next night, when Harry Hamlin was dropped and Willa was asked how she felt. Instead of her being professional, she retorted she felt fine and thought it was rather funny that she had been voted on and Lisa's husband Harry had been voted off. Along with this was a rather snippy smile and a very unfavorable impression. She should have gone right then.

Following week, Tom made a rather snide remark about the shock that Harry Hamilin had been voted off (he and Jerry had been in the last two). Jerry, it seems, just rolls w/the punches, has a good time, entertains and enjoys himself. Maybe that's what it should be about. Who can go through all the insults and jabs and still manage to hang on OR maybe that's what it is about and the fans see it.

Although we all know he won't finish it the last two, I am all for Jerry as far as he can go.

Please, give Jerry a break. He is awesome in my opinion and I'm sure in many other people's too. I just hope I can still move like that when I'm his age. People need to start giving credit where it is due and not just because someone is young and sexy.

@Red
Good job ignoring the main point of my post. What people aren't getting is that this isn't a real dance contest, yet they keep complaining and wanting it to be run like one.

As soon as you let non-professional judges (the TV audience) decide anything, it is not a real contest.

I agree, Jerry and Sara are not that good. Willa was doing a good job and should not have been booted. Poor Jerry is there only because of fans...not talent or dance ability...and Sara, while she tries, is not a good dancer, either. Remember, this is not a popularity contest, but a contest of dance ability and performance.
