Failed Lurie pilot picked up by CW

by Adam Finley, posted Oct 15th 2006 8:59AM
rod lurieCommander in Chief creator Rod Lurie's 2004 series Capital City, which was rejected by ABC, is being given a second chance on the CW network. The original pilot featured Leslie Bibb, Peter Fonda, Mary Steenburgen, Tom Berenger and David Paymer. The series, about a young woman working in congress, will be redeveloped for the CW. Lurie will write and produce the new pilot, and will direct if the network decides to pick up the series. Lurie's latest failed series, Commander in Chief, may return once more as a TV movie to tie up any loose ends. IMDb has the movie listed for 2007, but one can't always trust IMDb on such matters.

I second that. Commander in Chief had great ratings and was assassinated by the knochelkopf's at ABC.

Maybe they were afraid it would inspire people to vote for Hillary in 2008?

Commander and Chief didn't fail, ABC and Rod Lurie did. The show was the biggest hit of last year and Rod Lurie didn't make enough episodes. ABC being as dumb as they are desided destroying the show to get a few more episodes was a good idea. In the end they didn't even get more episodes and wrecked one of their biggest shows.
