Stingray coming to DVD. Woo-hoo!

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 18th 2006 4:33PM

Nick MancusoI've been waiting for this.

Stingray is finally coming to DVD! No, I'm not talking about that show with the puppets. I'm talking about the short-lived NBC show from the mid-80s starring Nick Mancuso. He played a mysterious stranger with no-name who helped people out of jams and solved crimes. He didn't ask for money, he only asked that you do him a favor in the future. Whatever it is, you must do it. He would use the favors not for personal gain, but to help others in trouble. The show was stylish, fun, and even had some cool original songs.

There's no official word that has been announced. I got this info from someone at Stephen J. Cannell's site. You can check out TVShowsonDVD.com for more info, or keep tabs on Cannell's site to see when the set will be released.

I'll be first in line.

Yep, the light bar and at one point we find out the license plate on the car is registered to the White House. Sure, THIS I remember, but don't ask me what I had for lunch two days ago...

Strange the light bar is what i remember most too. Now with Equalizer airing on sleuth all we need now is Riptide on DVD.

Of course salvage one and Quark would be pretty cool too but I aint holding my breath

I remember it being a pretty good show. For some reason, the thing that really sticks out in my mind is the light-bar he'd pop on the front of his stingray when he followed people. It had a bunch of lights and switches so he could turn different combinations on/off. If you were being followed, in your rear view mirror you'd see a car, and then sometime later a motorcycle or maybe a truck or a car with a headlight burned out. Great idea.
