The CW cancels Runaway

by Joel Keller, posted Oct 18th 2006 12:05PM
RunawayI've got bad news for fans of the CW show Runaway: It's done. Gone. Dunzo. After one week in its new Sunday night "death slot", the new network has decided to pull the show permanently. The drama, starring Donnie Wahlberg, revolved around a family that's on the run after its father is accused of murder. It averaged only 1.8 million viewers during that Sunday airing.

Of course, the CW knew that when it swapped its Sunday and Monday lineups, the shows that landed on Sunday would be in trouble, so I'm wondering why they were surprised by Runaway's poor showing. Oh, well. Is the reconstituted 7th Heaven going to be next?

I agree with what the other people are saying. That it sucks that they took Runaways off just after a week or so. Sunday's isn't a very good day to have shows on so why couldn't they move a different show like Heroes. I tried to like Heroes also, but I found it to be to boring. Runaway was good and kept me interested. SOMEONE PICK UP RUNAWAY. It would of gotten watched if they would of gave it a better chance.

I can't believe they cancelled EVERWOOD for that show!
Bring back Everwood.
Who is running the CW anyway. They need to get in touch with what the public wants.

I was really starting to like this show. But of course it got cancelled. Any show put in that slot is going to do bad; everyone is watching Desperate Housewives. They need to just put it back on its Monday slot. There isn't anything good to watch on Monday.

I am mad that Runaway was cancelled. I am also mad that Everwood didn't come back. I had no idea that Runaway had taken it's place. I was so happy to see 7th Heaven come back but it isn't as good without most of the famous characters gone. Please bring back the good showes All I watch is the CW and HGTV and it is unfair to get rid of the Better shows to put CRAP on my T.V. PLEASE PLEASE bring back my showes

I like 7th Heaven, but when they cancelled Everwood to continue the 7th Heaven saga, they lost some credibility. Now, they have cancelled another show that was beginning to show promise. This network can not compete with the big boys, especially if they don't give new shows a chance!

"Is the reconstituted 7th Heaven going to be next?"

Only if there's any power in my prayers!

People, the show was doing horrible in the ratings before it was moved to the so-called "Sunday death slot." The whole point of the move is that they were giving the show one last shot to show some life and it didn't. They clearly made a mistake by putting this show on the air instead of Everwood(which I've never even seen, all I know is it has a dedicated fanbase).

To think that they cancelled Everwood to put on Runaways. Atleast Everwood got decent ratings, no matter what time or day they had it on.

Thank you very much for saving the "Gilmore Girls" and "One Tree Hill". I didn't get the chance to watch "Runaways" Maybe this show would have done better in a different time slot.
