TiVo? More like TiNo!

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 19th 2006 6:47PM

TiVoTiNo. That's the word San Francisco Chronicle TV critic Tim Goodman has coined for shows that he has recorded on ohis DVR but hasn't watched yet. The shows that have been on there but you haven't watched yet, or the shows you've recorded and you're not even sure if you'll eventually get to them or not. (Funny how TiVo has now become the noun and the verb for recording TV shows on a DVR or PVR, whether or not it's actually a TiVo or not. Like how we call all bandages Band-Aids!)

I've TiNo'ed five episodes of Life on Mars. They've been on there for two months or so, but hopefully I'll get to them in the next month or so.

What shows have you TiNo'ed?

Well I too Tino'ed Eureka but I finally need a marathon last week and watched the 8 episodes I've been hanging on to now If I could just get in the mood for Kyle XY I have 6 of those hanging on and taking up space. I'm also bad to hang on to indie films, such as Velvet Goldmine with Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale and Max with John Cusack. I also always have 2 or 5 CSI Miami and or NY. I need to watch this stuff but with all the good shows that I really can't wait to watch on this season the old and the predictable get lost in the shuffle.

I have to get a bigger hard drive so I can Tino more shows.

I only have a 40 gig drive at the moment in my ReplayTV and I still Tino a fair amount of shows.

I've got the last 3 episodes of West Wing, and the last two of Studio 60, I guess I'm bored of Sorkin. There's also 8 or 9 movies.

I think the word TiNo is lame. Try again.

I have everyone beat. I have the last 4 episodes of The X-Files...from when they first aired...still sitting around waiting to be watched. From 2002.

What do I win? ;)

I've had that happen with several movies in the past. It'll be something I may have been too busy or lazy to go see in the theater and I'll record it when it comes on in HD on a premium channel. Then I eventually notice its been sitting at the bottom of the list for a month and a half and I delete it.

Usually I watch any tv show that I bother to record without building up a bunch of episodes.

I TiNo'd Eureka as well. I might get to them one day. I still have the final episodes of Arrested Development and haven't seen them yet. That's how I watched it when it was on, I would end up with 6 or 7 episodes on my Tivo and then marathon them.

I finally watched Kidnapped and thought it was pretty decent, too bad it's been cut to 13 episodes.

I've got all the episodes of Studio 60, but still haven't found the time to watch. It'll get to the point were I'll realize "Hey, that's too many, I don't have the time" and end up deleting them. Worst is my wife, who will Tivo movies and like having NetFlix, will just sit there and not get watched. One of the reasons we ended up canceling our NetFlix. Altough, I love my Tivo, it's gone from "watching when I want to watch" to "delete and not watch, when I want too."

Well Bob, if you recorded Life on Mars from BBC America, skip em. They are missing about 15 minutes from each episode. The two I checked out missed some very important parts (imo)

You would best check them out on on-demand if you have it or wait for DVD (or acquire through other questionable means)

But do watch them, the show is great.
