Watch Fox's On The Lot video submissions

Blown Job - On The Set I finally got to see Feast today, which is the end result of the last edition of Project Greenlight. As I was watching a monster's genitals get slammed in a door and then chopped off (really) a thought occurred to me. Considering that none of the Greenlight movies have been actual successes, somebody should probably try it again!

And those somebodies would be Mark Burnett and Steven Spielberg with On The Lot. Anna posted about the show way back in April, and now the site is updated with all kinds of content for you to peruse. They are accepting submissions until December 1st. After that, the field of aspiring film makers will be narrowed down to the sixteen contestants for the show. For now, you can watch the submitted films as well as rate and critique them.

As one would expect, the level of quality, both in content and production, is all over the map. Having watched a pile of them, I'd recommend Justin Lutsky's Bon Appetit. He has an amusing intro and the production is great. My inner Beavis also enjoyed Michael Gembella's Blown Job. It's the story of Herb (pictured), a door to door sex toy salesman. On The Lot is set to air on Fox in the spring of 2007.

Contests like Greenlight and Trigger street are very weird. You submit a script that is being read by people trying to submit their scripts... so you are judged by your competition. So if THEY are trying to get THEIR film made, what is their motivation to give you a good rating?

Each year, my scripts got blown out of the water while the winning films sank down the toilet.

Kinda like American Idol, huh?
