Twenty Good Years taken off schedule

Cancelled already? I'm a fairly dedicated TV watcher, and I only managed to catch one episode!!

Somehow it seems that, if a show doesn't catch you right off the bat (or get a good review in the TV Guide "New Hit Shows" edition), it's doomed -- no chance for people to discover it after they find out that they don't enjoy "Friday Night Lights" and start looking for something different.

Deal or No Deal is only a temporary "replacement" - different genres = different audiences, and people looking for a light sitcom aren't suddenly going to switch to a game show just because it occupies the same time slot.

Laugh tracks? "Arrested Development" tried to get along without one, and look what happened to them! Although I despise laugh tracks on shows not actually filmed in front of an audience, I'm not about to start or stop watching a show just because of the laugh track (or lack of same).

I think it is a big mistake to take the show off. Maybe move it to another night but these two actors are magnificent and just need a little time for people to realize how funny this is. It's almost a reality show because most men their age feel that they would like to try some of these adventures. They can live them through John and Jeffrey but with humor.
This program is SO MUCH better than 30-Rock. I feel they need another chance; they are too good to be tossed aside.

That's great, I think. I couldn't imagine the ratings having the hipper 30 Rock as the lead in. A show like this belongs on CBS.

YES, the laugh track was one of the most annoying things about this show. I have tried to watch every episode and about ten minutes into it, I get up to do something else. And yes, J. L. is still playing Dick Solomon. The episode with Jane Leeves (from Frasier) was absolutely disgusting, not because of the subject matter, but because it was just trying way too hard and it was just way not funny at all! For the record, I am a registered AARP member, but I am still several years younger than the two main characters, and I am offended by the attempt at "old" humor!!
On the other hand, 30 Rock was actually funny this past Wednesday night. For the first time, I actually laughed out loud, and my husband laughed so hard at the poker game that we had to back it up to hear the next dialogue (thanks TiVo!). So, there is hope for that, IF they keep Jane Krakowski out of it and Tracy Morgan to occasional outbursts.

I like both actors in the show, but after watching the pilot I was disappointed. Tony's absolutely right that Lithgow seems to be playing Dick Solomon under an assumed name, but what really bothered me the most about the show was the laugh track. For some reason, hearing chuckles while a scene is taking place in a racketball court was very artificial. Having a laugh track at all almost makes it seem like the producers are trying to goad you into thinking something's funny because the writing can't do it alone.

I am very sad that this show wasn't better, it could've been great.

But really- is it good that Deal or No Deal is doing well? I say absolutely not. It's best for humanity that sort of thing is as quickly forgotten as possible. And I actually like 30 Rock. I haven't managed to actually watch it on tv at the right time yet, but as soon as my schedule calms down, I will. Or, actually, I won't, because I watch Grey's Anatomy at 9.

As for 20 Good Years, I'd liked to have seen it at some point. I like the actors, even though the premise isn't particularly appealing to me.

I can't beleive NBC is cancelling this show. This is something i'd expect fox to do but not NBC. At least scrubs is back soon...

Actually, I'm pretty sure that ratings for THE OFFICE and EARL got a significant boost when they were moved to Thursdays. Not to mention that ad rates are higher that night, so it's amplified a bit.

I'm not going to miss this show very much. I only saw one episode (where they were both dating the "Frasier" girl) and it may be that I was expecting more considering the caliber of the actors. Lithgow is still playing the same character as in 3rd_Rock_From_the_Sun. Totally self-absorbed and clueless. Understandable and comical for an alien but somehow missing the mark here.
Unless the other episodes were much better than this it appears the producers poured all the budget into salaries and left little for the writing staff.

nooooooooooooo!!! I looove this show. Old guy humor is this best. I agree that this show is funnier than 30 rock (not that i hate 30 rock, it's a good show too). If this is the end, it was fun while it lasted.
