Really? Inspectors had found no WMD in Iraq, and though there was som suspicion that some was hidden, the North Korean nuclear programme wasn't in doubt. Also, the only genocide occuring in Iraq was over a decade ago, back when Rumsfeld was chummy with Saddam. When the US invaded Iraq instead of fisnihing the job in Afghanistan and nailing those actually responsible for 9/11, Saddam was mostly preoccupied with writing romance novels (look it up).

O'Reilly LIED. He lied when he said Sadam Husain was sheltering al-Quaida in northern Iraq before the invasion. Ansar al-islam was in the Kurdish region, trying overthrow the Kurdish democracy-- but Husain had no control over that part of the country so it is irrelevant to the issue of whether Husain had ties to al-Quaida. Then O'Reilly continued his BIG LIE which he constantly reiterates on his program: the claim that president Bush didn't lie us into the war in Iraq, he was merely mistaken about the intelligence. One simple example illustrates how Bush lied. He said in the state of the Union address just before the war that Iraq was trying to get yellowcake uranium from Africa. This had been put in several speeches before the State of the Union but had been removed before they were given, on the advice of the CIA who told the White House the claim was based on fraudulant documents. Yet Bush made the claim in the state of the Union anyway, as part of his overall effort to scare the country into war with Iraq. So Bush is a liar and O'Reilly is a lying propagandist and Letterman is a hero for not letting him get away with it.

First off, Nate from comment #3 may be a bit rough around the edges, but his analysis of geopolitical strategy is a heck of a lot stronger than many talking heads I've heard.

As for Dave, I understand he (like many other Americans) is frustrated, but as others have mentioned- he didn't even give O'Reilly a chance to respond on many topics. And the comparisons to Vietnam are despicable to say the least. The number of American casualties in Vietnam dwarf Iraq. Zero deaths of American servicemen is the desire, but lets keep in mind that the 3000-ish lost heroes of the Iraq war would want their deaths to save more 3000-ish losses in future 9/11s.

Take away whatever preconceived notions you have about Dave and Bill. Dave wouldn't even let Bill finish a sentence and came off as belligerent. He acted like Bill was responsible for the Iraq war -- or at the very least that he has some influence over international policy. He doesn't.

I'm certainly not a fan of Bill's, but I think if Dave had let him finish a sentence, he would have seen that they were in agreement on many issues. Instead, he seemed hellbent on making Bill look bad, something Bill can do just fine on his own. Dave should be embarrassed -- and probably was as soon as he watched the playback.

There are many dictators that should be over thrown, how about Cuba? How about most of Africa.

And Iraq was NOT as likely to have nukes as North Korea and Iran did. All real proof and not the fake shit Bush and Company lied to us about showed that. We fucked up the world and let it become a better place for the terrorist and made us less safe and have fewer rights. Only two more years until the rebiulding of America can happen.

Sure we overthrew a dictator but he should have been gone a decade before, when we went to Iraq the first time. After the invasion of Kuwait and the first Gulf War Sadam realised we would invade if he tried to pull something else so he stayed quiet and got an extra ten years of living the lavish life of the leader of an Oil rich nation. WMDs, what ever.

I love Dave a lot, but it was pretty obvious something was yanking his sack. Billo was trying to make peace with him and he jumped all over him instead. I wish Dave had exercised a bit more tact this time around, he really does come off as a douchebag here.

I love Dave and have watched his show almost every night for more than 15 years. I agree with the ideas he stated in the interview, but he really came off as an asshole this time around.
