Internet Buzz: Did Eddie Izzard quit 24 after only one day of filming?

Eddie IzzardWe at TV Squad have been getting an outpouring of questions about Eddie Izzard all day. Three separate Internet sources (that I know about and as of this writing) are claiming that the famously funny British actor/comedian has quit the cast of 24. He did one day of filming before the split. Apparently, Izzard is filming his own TV series now with Minnie Driver. It is called The Riches. According to these sources, Izzard has been quietly replaced with British actor David Hunt, who is married to actress Patrician Heaton. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find out any additional information about what happened with Izzard on the set.

I am a big fan of Eddie Izzard. Love him. I have seen him in concert. Love his comedy, have seen his films. But I have read that he has a reputation for being difficult and a bit of a diva, despite having an incredibly likeable persona. I have no idea what happend on the set of 24 (of which I am also a huge fan) but it wouldn't surprise me if there was only room for one ego on that set. And it isn't Izzard's. It is very disappointing. At my house, we were really looking forward to seeing someone we like so much join the cast of a show we have followed for so long. When we get more information, we'll let you know. And if you find out anything, be sure to let us know!

Maybe he just missunderstood the contract. 24 refers to the 24 hours of a single day, right? Perhaps he thought he completed his contract.

The Riches will be on fx, which basically means itll be a good show. Sounds like a better opportunity to me.

I certainly hope not...

I've been long time fan and like it when he gets 'U.S.' work in films/TV.

I guess we'll find out.
