The Daily Show: October 31, 2006

Midwest Midterm MidtacularJon started with some news about election irregularities and a Katherine Harris joke (regarding Ohio's Ken Blackwell, who garnered considerable boo's and hisses at first: "Think of him as a more do-able Katherine Harris..." [audience laughs and cheers] "They boo him, and suddenly they all want to bang him!"). Samantha Bee, Aasif Mandvi (he's ALIVE!), and Rob Riggle, dressed as a slutty nurse for Halloween, briefly offered some thoughts. Apparently, during the Daily Show special OSU performance on Saturday (not televised), Jon pointed out a slutty nurse or something? I don't know, I wasn't there... Some people on the Internet were talking about how Riggle was dressed very similarly to Saturday's slutty nurse and, since it was on the Internet, it must be true.

"Midterm Spotlight: The Senate": This segment only reminded me of how much the incumbency rate makes me want to cry. However, attack ads are just as ridiculous as ever, so I'm also tempted to laugh... Midterm elections leave me a sobbing/guffawing mess. I also realized that when Senators argue, it's a bit like watching a male version of The View. There are no voices heard... It's just one loud screech tearing at my eardrums.

The night's guest was John Mueller, a professor of Political Science at Ohio State University. Of course, this interview was more politically charged than the one with Lebron James. Jon and John discussed terrorism and how someone is about as likely to be killed in a terrorist attack as being killed by a meteor or asteroid. Then, Jon tried getting John to reveal a question on his final exam, as a favor to the OSU audience. No luck.

Moment of Zen: All political ads have been approved! Instant credibility, right?

Good job with the summary, but you didn't mention the best part...Jon's "costume" and how if you saw him later that night at a dorm party, he wasn't creepy, it was just his costume.
