The Five: Your questions answered

by Richard Keller, posted Nov 2nd 2006 10:00AM

The cast of USA Network's PsychI know that we already have a 'Ask TV Squad' category to answer questions from our beautiful and intelligent readers, but that is usually meant for one question at a time. In this episode of 'The Five' I'd like to reply to a number of questions that have come to us over the last few weeks. So, without further ado . . .

1. Steph writes 'Please help! Is Psych canceled? I just discovered it and I've only seen reruns.'

Fear not, dear Steph. Psych is just taking a mid-season break, which is normal for cable shows to do. The USA Network comedy, which stars James Roday, Dule Hill and Corbin Bernsen, returns with new episodes in January of 2007.

2. Georgia asks a question about a member of the Law & Order: Criminal Intent cast 'Detective Eames was never married on the show, was she? Her pregnancy was supposedly a surrogate pregnancy for her sister to cover her real pregnancy with her son, wasn't it? They aren't getting ready to write her out of the show, are they?'

Well, if they did let Kathryn Erbe go from her role as Alexandra Eames CI fans would probably riot, especially after the loss of Jamey Sheridan (Captain Deakins) and Courtney B. Vance (A.D.A. Carver) this season. By the way, you are correct. Eames was never married on the show, and the surrogate pregnancy for her sister covered Erbe's real pregnancy.

3. Chris Cooper wants to know 'Why is the CBS Sunday Movie not going to be on? Does this actually mean that there will be no more Hallmark movies on CBS?'

I'm guessing that there may be a Hallmark movie here or there to fill an empty spot in the schedule, or when the holidays come around, but the network TV movie is pretty much dead. It's especially pointless to put them on during football season, when the Sunday night schedule may get pushed back a full hour if a game runs late. Also, it seems that Hallmark movies are now being produced for The Hallmark Channel only. So, if you need your fix, I'd say tune into that channel, or ask your cable provider to get it (two hours of M*A*S*H every night).

4. Theodore asks a question many people want to know 'Invasion, why was it canceled?'

Probably the same reason why fan-favorite shows like Surface, Firefly and Arrested Development were canceled: low ratings, or ratings that the network executive's thought were low. There were rumors back before the network's fall schedules were announced, that Invasion would be moving over to the CW. Alas, it never happened.

5. Finally, from too many people to mention ' Is Everwood coming back to television with new episodes?'

My answer is no, nyet, nope, nuh-uh, ain't going to happen. In fact, Greg Berlanti has moved over to ABC and Touchstone TV, where he is working on two new drama pilots. Don't believe me? Well, click here for proof.

Where is the "Ask TV Squad" category?

I want to know why you've stopped posting reviews of Saturday Night Live.

I believe Greg Berlanti is also working on Brothers and Sisters, which keeps getting better and better.
