FOX gives OC fans a double dose this week

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Nov 6th 2006 2:43PM

The OCFollowing last week's mediocre ratings for the season premiere of The OC, Fox has already started to shuffle around the veteran drama. For this week only, FOX will air two new episodes of the show on Wednesday and Thursday night in the 9PM time-slot. One would expect the show to do poorly again on both nights. Wednesday it'll be up against Criminal Minds and Lost and on Thursday the show will deal with the same one-two punch that killed it last week: CSI and Grey's Anatomy.

However, this could signal a complete change for the show. If it does halfway decent on Wednesday night, I would expect FOX to shift The OC there permanently. Remember, after this week, Lost goes on hiatus until February and it's getting replaced by the Taye Diggs drama Daybreak. That would be the smart move because keeping it stacked with Grey's Anatomy is a killer. Grey's grabs The OC's demographic easily and as much as I love The OC, Grey's is far better.

I cannot believe this show still has an audience. It is SO terrible.

I'm so happy that Fox is taking action and moving the OC to Wed -- hopefully permanently. ABC is too slow to move men in trees to Thurs and NBC is too slow to move Studio 60 to Wed at 10. All fans of the OC should give this show another chance and definitely spread the word about the wed outing -- so that fox will consider moving it from it's death slot on thurs.

How dumb are these networks? Studio 60 might not be the grestest, but it has a terrible lead in. Heros and Medium on Mondays and Studio 60 at 10 on Wednesday.

Fox should just leave The OC on at 8 on Thursday.
