Sex and the City, the movie: on again?

by Brett Love, posted Nov 7th 2006 4:11PM
sarah jessica parkerThe ongoing saga of the Sex and the City film reminds me of the Carrie and Mr. Big relationship. Yes. No. Yes. No. Just make a decision already. Last June, Kat reported that it just wasn't happening. But wait, things change. The latest up in the roller coaster production ride comes from a rumor over at OK magazine. They have a story up that says, "...substantial negotiations have opened with each of the star's teams..."

That's a long way from actually making the movie, but a step in the right direction. The thing I don't get... is there really a market out there for the Sex and the City movie? I quit watching around the time that Miranda got pregnant because I just lost interest. Unless the story for the movie is going to be that Carrie and Charlotte have given up on men and now spend their days frolicking naked in Charlotte's apartment, I can think of dozens of TV shows I would rather see jump to the big screen. Is it just me? Would you go see the Sex and the City movie?

I must say that I watched the Family Stone not too long ago, horrible movie by the way- not a comedy at all, and SJP is really aging hard. She looks haggared and looks like she has been living hard, it isn't pretty. She needs to start playing the sympethetic mother roles and no more hot love interest, it is just sad and ain't working. I haven't really seen the others lately so no comment on them. I would personally like to see her branch out into other roles because it seems as though she has been type cast and I think she could act in more meaningful and deeper roles.

I like SJP a lot but if the shoe don't fit, don't wear it.

So I guess to make a long story short, no Sex and The City Movie Please!

On a side note, Carrie and Big fit together and deserve each other. Carrie didn't exactly treat Aiden
that great either. Not that I don't like the characters, I do actually, but they do fit just right for each other. Carrie and The Russian dude both needed to be the star's in the relationship and that just doesn't work. Big got her and she got him and could let each other shine with Carrie still being the "satr " in the realtionship.

I hate going to the movies, but I will be first in line.Anyone who thinks the cow has already been milked does'nt ' get it'.Everything dealt with on the show is different subjects built around the same premise.Yes, Carrie should end up with Big, because even though he treated her badly he realized in the end.

I would definitely go see the movie. I love Sex and the City and always will! I believe that Mr Big and Carrie definitely should have ended up together eventually. Sure, people say "Oh that'll never happen in real life. That's just some fairy tale" but those are the people that don't deserve it to happen to them or have lost faith. I will definitely go see the movie. I think HBO is doing this to give a little more closure to the fans: "What happens with Charlotte and Harry's new baby?" "Does Carrie have kids with Big?" "Will Miranda and Steve have more children?" "Does Samantha continue the battle with Cancer?" "Will Samantha and Smith stay together?"...and more. Those are the main questions that I am wondering. I can't wait!

I would absolutely go see the movie. Although I did enjoy the bit about the movie being like watching "The Golden Girls" if it finally does come out. I was not exactly thrilled that all 4 girls were paired off, but I must disagree on one part ... Carrie and Big had to end up together. My husband and I went through very similar situations ... very similar ... and we've been together for 4 years now. It does happen, keep the faith.

I would go see it - if only in hopes that the movie sees Carrie no longer with Mr. Big. It made NO sense for her to end up with him -- if you go back and watch the eps on TBS, he really treated her very badly. Also, the fact that all 4 women were neatly paired off at the end totally flew in the face of one of the basic premises of the show: that strong women don't need a man to be successful. They even put Samantha in a couple, for crying out loud!

For the right amount of dough, they probably will do it.

On a related note, I went to see Cynthia Nixon starring in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie on Thursday. She was brilliant! And SJP was there that night in the audience. SJP was very sweet to the young girls in the cast, congratulating them on a job well done. A real class act she was.

I think the hardcore SATC fans will be there to see it regardless of how good (or crappy) it is.

What would be the point? The story lines were all wrapped up... how can you milk a cow with a dry udder?

Better to follow Star Trek's lead and have "The Next Generation" featuring 20-somethings? Different faces, a different generation, and different issues.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
