Idol performer Pickler to star in new FOX comedy

kellie picklerIf you haven't gotten your fill of contestants from American Idol, then open wide for a heapin' helpin' of Southern-fried goodness: finalist Kellie Pickler is set to star in a new FOX comedy about a girl from a small town in the South who discovers that the governor is actually her father. The character is based on Pickler herself, so I assume it will be an easy role for her to play. NBC has ordered a script for the new series, which is being written by Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore, who wrote three episodes of That '70s Show between them.

The series is being developed by American Idol's production company 19 Entertainment, proving once again that Idols don't just happen, they're strategically crafted and forced into our homes until we have no choice but to either give in or throw our TVs out the window.

That's awesome that we get to see her acting skills. She has a great voice so I am eager to see how well she acts. I love American Idol and it's great to see regular people with talent who make it big. American Idol is nominated for a People's Choice Award this year. You can vote at http://www.pcavote.com for whatever show you like. I work with the People's Choice Community so just giving you all the scoop.

Good for Kellie. She is a delight to watch and a breath of fresh air and sunshine. I wish her the greatest success in all her career aspirations. And she is very pretty, to boot.

Congrats to Kellie for capitalizing on her newfound success. More power to her. That being said, I wouldn't even watch this show if our national security depended on it. To me "stupid" doesn't equate to "endearing." It just equates to "stupid."

I don't see anything wrong with Kellie.
I used to be suspicious of her country girl act, but I think she is genuine.
Don't worry, fame will screw her innocence up in short order.
I like her fine just the way she is, young, cute, talented.
I sure like her better then that gal that married the old guy for all his money. Yuck. What was her name?

I don't care how Pickler got to where she is at now. All I know is that she makes me laugh and she is damn funny. Period. Whether her 'act' is genuine or not does not matter; that is why they call it 'acting'. Personally, I will watch to see what kind of funny things she does and says. I do not consider her stupid; I consider her not yet 'worldy' and I hope she stays that way! A combination of a great singer and a great comedian is hard to find.

Pleez, if Kelli has a t.v. show, send her to a voice person, she has to lose that awful southern accent. You know, that doesn't sound cute, it sounds ignorant. And really stupid, like a dumb blonde!!!She doesn't sound smart enough to remember her lines. Granted, she can sing good, but we didn't vote for her, was very glad when she was gone. We love the A.Idol show tho.We live in Ca., no accents like that here.

Well, I'm about as southern as it gets, I'm a Texan girl. Born and raised in Ft. Worth, Tx. Still, I have the guts to speak up and give my opinion. And I still say her stupid act is just that..an act. She thinks it's cute to be stupid. So if people want to continue to encourage her to act like a 4 yr. old with her ridiculous stupid questions and comments, then go for it..LIVE IT UP! I'm done with this topic..next..

MJ, I must disagree with you. Many of these kids HAVE worked hard to get where they are...I wouldn't say that they have been "handed" anything. Most worked long and hard BEFORE Idol....AI was just a HUGE stepping stone....a great way for them to show off their talent to people who matter and to America...the people who listen to and buy MUSIC...instead of beating down the door of some moody record exec who PERSONALLY may not like what they do. These are TALENTED kids! If they weren't, do you really think that Kelly Clarkson would have sold the kind of albums she has? Could Carrie Underwood have won The Horizon Award AND Female Vocalist Of The Year at the CMA's last week? I don't think so. Winners or losers...ALL the AI finalists and contestants have talent...Unlike those that get where they are because of who their parents are or how much money they have. I'm thinking...oooh..Paris Hilton...or Nicole Richie....FAKE! FAKE! FAKE! I'll take Kellie Pickler over those trashy wannabe's ANY DAY!!
