Here's the lineup for Letterman's "Impressionist Week"

David LettermanDavid Letterman has been talking a lot lately about doing an "Impressionist Week" on the show. Some viewers thought it was just one of his jokes, but he already did a "Ventriloquist Week" a few weeks ago, and he's going through with the plan. The shows start this Monday. Here's the lineup:

  • Monday: Rich Little
  • Tuesday: Fred Travalena
  • Wednesday: Gordie Brown
  • Thursday: Frank Caliendo
  • Friday: Kevin Pollak

Little and Travalena are veteran impressionists, of course, and Frank Caliendo and Kevin Pollak are well known (Caliendo was on Mad TV and does a mean John Madden, while Pollak is a movie actor who does a great Alan Arkin and Christopher Walken, among other celebs). I have no idea who Gordie Brown is (sorry).

According to what Letterman has said on the show recently, they were in negotiations with Las Vegas headliner Danny Gans (who is incredible) but he decided not to do it for one reason or another.

Dear Dave:

I really really intended to watch the impressionist this week. It reminded me that Rich Little was still living and well. The problem was something I hadn't thought about until I realized it now gets dark here in Indiana about 5:30 thanks to a thing called Daylight Savings Time. Which means that by 12:30 it reminds me I've been up a long time--Guess what I still didn't see Rich Little but did see a little bit of the lovely Jessica Simpson. I'm staying up even later this Friday night to see Kevin Pollack-- Which of course you now must realize I have teenagers and will wait to make sure they arrive home OK.

Gordie plays his own new showroom at The venetian in Las Vegas. I saw him last year and he's edgy, entertaining and quite good on impersonations. See him Wed.! He won't disappoint.

What, no evil Dave Letterman from Howard Stern?

That's cute MacGuffin.

I hope Pollak goes nuts with Walken.

I love it when impressionists do Al Pacino. Pacino has such a unique voice and cadence, and of course, his signature speech that seems to be part of every movie he does these days.

This will be a must-see week on Letterman. I hope my parents let me stay up that late.
