Law & Order SVU: Underbelly

(S01E07) First of all, check out the SVU homepage. Doesn't Stabler look freakishly larger than everyone else in the main photo? Second, are you as pissed off as I am about the NBC promos for this episode? They showed the scene where Stabler and Beck kiss and then they showed a shocked Benson. But in reality, those two scenes were far apart. I don't know about you guys, but I didn't pay close attention to the case because I was waiting for Benson to bust Beck and Stabler as they were making out. Never happened.
In fact, Det. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) only got about a minute of screen time. She walked into the squad room, met Det. Dani Beck (Connie Nielsen) and then told Captain Cragen (Dann Florak) that she was back. Now, why didn't Cragen know that? He gave some bullshit line about his contact at the FBI being a little slow, but the whole episode before this one had A.D.A. Casey Novak (Diane Neal) searching for Olivia, who finally appeared in her courtroom. Anyway, Olivia's not ready to return to SVU and she quietly sneaks out the back when she sees Elliot and Dani interacting in close proximity.
As I said, I didn't pay super close attention to the case because it felt like a vehicle to advance the personal relationship between Dani and Elliot. Dani's character has really taken a turn for the better. While she still is a spitfire, she's also getting better with the victims. So, what is it about her that makes Elliot kiss her? (By the way, how hot was Christopher Meloni in that tight shirt?) Is it the way she gets upset over the victims? Olivia probably would've handled herself a little better just because she's been around the block.
It'll be interesting to see where this kiss goes because Connie Nielsen only has one or two episodes left. I thought for sure that the writers were going to kill her off at the end of the episode when the pimp aimed his SUV at her. Instead, she just killed him and got upset so she never went home with Stabler.
