Press Kits Unwrapped: TBS's My Boys

You thought we were done with press kit reviews, didn't you? No sir, not in the new television world of hundreds of channels and year-round original programming. As winter approaches you may see more reviews as the fall season makes way for the mid-season premieres. Just fair warning to you all.
This time around we are going to review the press kit for the new TBS comedy series My Boys, which premieres November 28th. No, you didn't read wrong! TBS is adding original programming to its schedule of comedy movies and repeats of Friends and Seinfeld. So, without further ado, let's press ahead (oh, press kit, 'press ahead' . . . I made a funny!).

This press kit is HUGE! I mean it literally. It measures 14 inches high by 11 inches wide, and is about two inches deep. With its heavy card stock cover and glossy photos it could easily be mistaken for a coffee table book.

The inside features a lot of goodies. First, there's not one, but two preview DVDs that feature five episodes of the series. Then, there's the press folder, which is chock full of information on the stars of the show, promotional photos, and a synopsis of what the comedy is all about.

Also included is this nifty notepad. Now, I know it's a bit weird for me to get excited about a notepad, but this is a really nice one. The front and back covers are made of some heavy card stock, so they won't come off after a few flips. Sure, it's definitely not something you can fit in your shirt pocket, but you can certainly put it in the glove compartment of your car to use when exchanging information after your next auto accident.

Finally, the press kit included a nice deck of cards. Nothing fancy on the face of them, but they make a nice little fan pattern. Unfortunately, I had to take the plastic wrapping on the cards, so there collectible value probably went right down the toilet. Ah well, there goes my retirement in Maui.
