What About Brian: What About What Was Supposed to Be

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Nov 21st 2006 7:03AM

Adam seems to be getting over Marjorie just fine.(S02E06) What about Brian? What about him indeed... I'm officially enjoying every other storyline way more than Brian's. There's just so much going on and Brian almost seems like an afterthought at this point.

The entire Adam/Heather relationship is great. Here's my fear though. What if she's playing him? It wouldn't be too hard to imagine, especially now that they've eloped (did not see that coming). She said her mother was a stripper too and that she basically grew up in the back of a club. It's not crazy to think that she heard of or knew some other women who used a man for money. She is going to med school too and could probably use the extra bucks. Regardless, if they stay together for a while, it'll set up some fireworks for Marjorie's return. Unless (I just thought of this), what if Marjorie comes home and she's married too? Ooohh...

Quick, random thought, before I move on. Anyone else notice that Angelo (Raoul Bova) is still in the credit montage? His name isn't listed, but there's still one big group shot near the end and he's there. I figured they would have taken that out.

OK, moving on. I feel really bad for Dave. It seems like the only reason he was offered that job is because they wanted to put him on a game that no one else wanted to touch. He might have to spend the next two years working on a game that he hates. Cuddly bears? Rivers of honey? Talking flowers? I'd go nuts too. Here's my predication though. Deena's cupcake business will take off and her and Dave are going to just switch places. He'll be the stay-at-home parent.

As far as Brian goes, a lot did happen to him. First off though, I wanted to talk about William Devane. He's a great actor, but for whatever reason, he seems out of place in this show. I can't put my finger on it, but he just doesn't fit. Oh well. Brain's story is moving in the direction we'd expect it to take at this point. He's got a love interest with Brigitte, she said no, and now he has a challenge. So this should occupy him for a few episodes now.

One of the things that struck me about this episode was the variety of topics it addressed. It was an entire emotional roller-coaster. From Nic and the grief-counseling to random hook-ups in a client's home to quickie marriages. It's all over the map.

Final thought? I'm getting really sick of Jimmy. Every time he talks it's the same old "you need to grow up" speech to Adam.

Favorite line?

Heather (to Adam, after finding all the food for the party): "You don't have to invite me just because I found your cheese."

Hi there. Does anyone know what the theme song is for this show? I am a fan of the show and every week I get that song stuck in my head but I am unable to find it anywhere. Thanks!

The show has certainly taken a turn. It is great to find this blog where someone is talking about the show. Loved that line as well about the cheese.

I don't like what's happening to Brian-the realtor job is random! And I know what you mean about Wm Devane.
