Amazing Race All-Stars coming in 2007

by Joel Keller, posted Nov 22nd 2006 7:35PM
Rob and AmberFirst there was the Real World/Road Rules Challenge. Then there was All-Star Survivor and Big Brother All-Stars. Now... hold on to your hats, reality fans... CBS has decided that it's high time for an all-star version of The Amazing Race (Rich first mentioned this last month, but now it's official).

And, yes, that means Rob and Amber (or as Rob says it, "Ambah") will be gracing our TVs once again.

According to ComingSoon.net, the 11th season of the classy, travel-oriented reality hit will be an all-star edition, pitting favorite pairs from previous versions. Variety is saying that along with "First Couple" of reality shows (they were on Survivor twice, got married on TV, and compteted on Race), their chief rivals, Joyce and Uchenna, will also participate as will David and Mary, the Kentucky coal miner and his wife. Not appearing? Jonathan and Victoria, Chip and Kim, and anyone from the oft-maligned family edition.

Rob... Ambah... if you're reading this (and I'm sure you are), can I ask you crazy kids a question? Why? Why subject yourself to the harsh eye of reality TV again? Not that I'm a big fan, but none of these shows has made Rob look very patient, or intelligent, or fair, or... well, let's just say that fans of the last Race you were in aren't exactly singing your praises. Is your marriage so empty that you can't function unless there's a cameraman and sound man surrounding you at all times? Jeez alou... even Omarosa knew when her fifteen minutes were up.

Oh Geez...Rob and "Ambah" (As a former Bostonian, I assure you that not all of us speak as if we have a mouth full of marbles.)cluttering the airwaves once again. These two are certainly the Lazaruses of reality television. I would have rathered see another team that hadn't won anything before compete. Same for the couple that previously won TAR.

I agree with the folks that say Rob and Amber's 15 minutes has expired. Frankly, I think suffering Rob once again will be more painful than I can imagine a scorching case of veneral warts would be.

I don't understand all the hostility to Rob & amber. I mean personally I don't like them much (I'm a fan of Uchenna & Joyce)but cut them some slack. After all they have to make a living too. I believe, they and "Team Guido" (my least favourite team) will make better entertainment & drama for the show. After all, a story would be boring if all those involved are heroes and there are no villains arounf. (P.s : Rob&Amber / Team Guido; nothing personal, eh!)

I think its a great idea to put Rob and Amber on TAR again. I loved watching them when they were on the last time and am anxiously waiting to see them race again. They make a great couple!

By now the teams have been announced... everyone is going to have favorites and ones that are not on the current TAR 11. If I had to choose I would try to make it a mix from each season (other than family). Although I did not start watching until season 4... My All Star team from that season on would be:
1 David and Jeff Season 4 3rd Place
2 Jon and Al (clowns)Season 4 4th Place
2 Chip and Kim Season 5 1st Place
3 Brandon and Nicole Season 5 3rd Place
4 Kris and Jon Season 6 2nd Place
5 Freddy and Kendra Season 6 1st place
6 Uchenna and Joyce Season 7 1st Place
7 Rob and Amber Season 7 2nd Place
8 BJ and Tyler Season 9 1st Place
9 Danielle and Dani Season 9 8th place
10 Eric and Jeremy Season 9 2nd Place
11 Tyler and James Season 10 1st Place
12 Dustin and Kandice Season 10 4th Place
13 Erwin and Godwin Season 10 5th Place
Most of those teams above were either 1st or 2nd. Although it's too late, who would you want...?

You go Rob & Amber
I am watching the amazing race this season just to cheer you two on. Good luck. I think you guys are the best and hope you win this one. I don't know why people are saying you had your 15 minutes of fame now get over it??? If your having fun then go for it. You two should have a reality show kind of like the Nick and Jessica show, it would watch it.

I know that people don't like Rob and Amber...myself included. So instead of complaining I have decided to just not watch the show at all. It seems to me that reality tv has gone down the tubes and I find myself boycotting a lot of them. The only reality show I do watch now is Survivor.

I think the reason that Rob & Amber got pick for the all stars because Rob accused the producers of assisting Uchena & Joyce to win, so I guess the producers want to give them a second chance that they were the "real" winners. I was glad that Uchena & Joyce won though. So, it's a rematch for both teams to prove to the viewers that the right team won the first round.

However, the teams I will be rooting for are Kevin & Drew, David & Mary, Jon vito & Jill, and team Cha Cha Cha.

Yes, I do think that Rob & Amber should stay off the TV for a while, but I stated my reasons above, so I'll just grin and bear it for the show.

I sure do miss Kris & Jon, and the Cho brothers. Those were truly good people, really!!!

I wonder what Flo is doing now? My nerves really are missing her annoying attitude...LOL!

I'm surprised about how many Rob and Amber apologists there are on here. Amber, admittedly, is pretty innocuous - just an unimportant mindless little twit. But Rob is an utter a-hole. A few have mentioned that "Rob knew how to play the game." Well, up until his appearance on the show, back-stabbing and lying and delighting in screwing over the other racers was kept to a minimum on TAR. If Rob's tactics are the benchmark of how the game should be played, I'm surprised any regular viewers stayed with TV's most intelligent reality show until he came along. Must have been incredibly boring for you.

The Amazing Race All-Stars should be comprised of the strongest and smartest teams to have played the show. It shouldn't matter if they were already somewhat of a celebrity, or whether they were the nicest, the most memorable or if they had alot of personality. And it certainly shouldn't matter whether they stepped onto the mat first or not, because it's not always the best team that finishes first.

All-stars means, the ALL-STARS. They were the best. The best at challenges, the best at strategies. There are alot of questionable teams that have been confirmed for the next race, but Rob and Amber certainly do qualify as an All-Star team. Their strategies were, although at times very controversial, some of the smartest strategies TAR has seen. They played the game well.

The show would not be anywhere near as interesting without Rob and Amber. I enjoy watching Rob's shenanigans. Also they are never hateful to each other even under huge stress. How anyone can say Rob is dumb--I don't know. He is street smart, perceptive, and always has his wheels turning. Had I been asked to select teams to run, my first choice would have been Rob and Amber.
