NBC orders more 30 Rock

by Anna Johns, posted Nov 22nd 2006 9:32AM
30 rockNBC still isn't ready to commit to a full season of 30 Rock. The network ordered three more scripts of the comedy, in addition to three more scripts that were ordered last month. That brings the total additional script order to six. Ratings for 30 Rock haven't been that impressive. It was floundering on Wednesday nights and last week's move to Thursday night only garnered 5.2 million viewers, which is less than NBC had hoped. By the way, 30 Rock and ABC's The Nine are the only two new series with uncertain futures.

I'm not sure why 30 Rock isn't a hit. Maybe people are turned off by Tina Fey or Alec Baldwin? I think it's been hilarious, with some wicked one-liners that mostly come from Baldwin. Hopefully its new time slot at 9:30 on Thursdays after Scrubs will help boost its viewership a bit so we can get a full season.

Love everything about the show except Tracy, hate him...the argument about integrity and product placement while they drank snapple was hilarious! Go Tina

Version2.0

Lets not forget the genius comedy that was Arrested Development. Fox committed to that show for 2.5 seasons and it, unfortuntetly, was never able to find a good size audience. :( This show has defintely filled that comedic void I've felt since AD was cancelled. It's the only new show this season that I thorougly enjoy other than Heroes.

American Nielson familes = idiots.

30 ROCK is great. Give it a frakkin chance NBC..

Hell, you use to do that w/ underperformers like CHEERS or SEINFELD after a couple of SHITTY seasons...AND THEY TURNED INTO BIG HITS FOR YOU FOR SEVERAL YEARS. Go back to that playbook, YOU IDIOTS!!!!

Not everything nowadays is an instant microwaveable bowl of RATINGS SUCCESS!! Have some patience w/ your shows. IF YOU "BUILD" IT, THE AUDIENCE WILL COME.

The last episode was hilarious. Tracy's "I can't read" plot had me aching with laughter. The part where he realizes how he can avoid coming to work, the small penis poster, the hot lesbian auditions....brilliant. The racist discussion was funny too.

The best part of the episode was Jack's video of him trying to act in a GE commercial. It went on for so long but it just kept getting better and better. Alec Baldwin = awesome.

HOW THE HELL CAN A SHOW LIKE STUDIO 60 GET A FULL SEASON, WHILE A TRULY CREATIVE, FUNNY SHOW LIKE 30 ROCK HAVE AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE?

NO WONDER NBC HAS BECOME SHIT!

THEY NEED TO GROW SOME BALLS AND BACK THE UNDERDOG!

30 Rock is probably the best comedy on television at this time. It is very funny and Alec Baldwin's casting was a stroke of genius (and I'm not a fan). I do however love Tina Fay.

Unlike "Studio 60", which suffered from a huge buildup and an equally huge disappointment, 30 Rock is the genuine article and should get a full season.

If you consider which shows are the most rated, it's not difficult to understand why 30 Rock is not doing well. I hope NBC realizes what a good thing they have, even if the public is not yet ready to accept it.

So how far away from 22 episodes are they now (with the 3+3=6 new scripts)? I like the show, but wish it was a little funnier. Of course, I must concur that there is at least one good zinger in each episode. But where's Waldo/Rachel Dratch? Watching out for her was half the fun of the show.

I love the show, Tracy Morgan included. Yeah, he's dumb and obnoxious, but that's kind of the point. He's the exact opposite of what Tina Fey's character wanted for the program, yet they occasionally find themselves relating to each other (mostly the premier, so far). And Alec Baldwin is great too.

I really enjoy 30 Rock. I work for a GE company so I really find humor in the GE subtleties (Product Placement, mentions of Six Sigma, etc). I hope more people tune in. I like the cast but Tracy Morgan is too obnoxious. They could tone him down a lot.

I love 30 Rock, but I can understand why it is having trouble finding viewers.

The comedy writing is great but the characters aren't real enough to make you care about any of them. You could never pull off a "very special" 30 Rock with a touching ending.
I don't really care because Baldwin's one liners are worth 22 mins of my time. I am glad they at least got a script order.

I hope that if the show gets canceled that they send Alec over to Studio 60 to replace Steven Webber.
