IGN lists the top 50 Lost mysteries

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Nov 27th 2006 4:02PM

The Numbers

OK, this might be the best list EVER. If anything it makes me incredibly angry to read through it all because I'm sharing the same frustrations as the editors over at IGN. They've listed their top 50 Lost conundrums. There's plenty of unresolved stories and lingering mysteries that I thought of and some that I didn't even consider. From the polar bears to the scripture on Eko's stick to the island's healing powers to eye-patch man to the foot statue, it's all been considered. I've read through it twice now and every base has been covered. It's like a tiny Lost encyclopedia -- it's that comprehensive. So sit back and read through it. Prepare to get frustrated though because I'm sure you'll come across something you didn't consider either. Stupid numbers. Stupid black smoke monster... why can't you just tell me what you are?!?

Maybe it's time to hand over Lost recapping duties to someone else if you're so frustrated with the show, Toomey? Just saying.

They explained what the numbers kind of meant in some online thing over the summer.

They drop storylines because they never had a resolution for them. Turning the others from superhuman silent hunters into civies with paste on beards was only one of many unredeemable retardations of that show.

So long as we EVENTUALLY get an answer to "Adam and Eve." That's the one mystery I want resolved. More than anything else.

I read this last week and it pissed me off. If mysteries from the first year still haven't been adressed and we're well into the 3rd year, than you can pretty much assume most of these will never be resolved. It irritates me that they will bring up these storylines and then just drop them.

It's not like a tiny Lost encyclopedia, Lostpedia is like a tiny Lost encyclopedia, hehe.

Quite an extensive list over at IGN. Pretty impressive.
Damon Lindelof has said that this season is "a season of answers", so hopefully we will get the answers to some of these questions in the second half of season 3.

Regarding what the numbers are, I wrote a post called The Lost Numbers Explained a while back where I tried to analyze what we've found out about the numbers. We've actually learned quite a lot.
