The Daily Show: November 27, 2006

Jon Stewart"Mess O' Potamia": Of course, we've been stuffing our fat faces full of turducken or participating in Black Friday (or Cyber Monday and it's buddy, Identity Theft Tuesday... the mention of which caused me to do the weirdest little laugh) to really know what's been going on in the Middle East, so here's a quick update... Iraq just experienced its bloodiest week since the beginning of the war. Matt Lauer says it's okay to call it a civil war now. We've been in Iraq longer than we fought in World War II. John Oliver is still awesome. That is all.

"No Meal Plan, No Cry": Segments about pot are generally sure-fire hits with the Daily Show crowd (stoners, bloggers, stoner/bloggers), so failure isn't really an option. Dan Bakkedahl did okay. Best line: "Well... Jesus turned water into wine and Aaron... smokes pot."

The night's guest was Representative Rahm Emmanuel, co-author of The Plan: Big Ideas for America. He sounded a little desperate to seem cool, so I thought the interview wasn't as strong as it could have been. The best part of the segment was when Emmanuel said that Bush once compared himself to FDR and the audience started giggling. Again, I'm very glad to see that there's no "Seat of Heat". Good riddance.

Jon/Stephen: Stephen Colbert did some online shopping. In some recent photographs, I've noticed a little silver shining around Colbert's ears, but I think this was the first time that I've noticed on TV. Is he starting to let a little grey show? If so, that's kind of hot -- I mean, nice. Yes. Nice. Moment of Zen: At the APEC Summit, President Bush looked very confused and very pastel.

"Matt Lauer says it's okay to call it a civil war now."

Matt Lauer is such an idiot. Not because he says it's a civil war - everybody knows it is - but because he's just an idiot.
