(S04E10) This isn't exactly the type of show you expect to see guest stars on. There have been plenty of folk that have lent their voice talent. For instance, Scott Thompson of Kids in the Hall fame voiced Dusty Gozongas last season. But this season, we've now had two people actually play themselves. First, pornstar Tera Patrick stopped by and now football great Bart Oates. How do they find these people?

I got a kick out of this episode once I realized what was going on. Two good friends of mine, one is a 49ers fan and the other loves the Giants -- the two teams Oates spent his career with. So naturally I had to tell them both about this episode. Let's just say that it's strangely awkward to start a conversation off with "So... were you a big Bart Oates fan?"

The episode was pretty decent. Lot of good moments. Essentially it was all about Bart Oates. He appeared to Carl as some sort of ghostly messenger and basically made Carl try to right all the wrongs he's done. Or at least apologize. He had to say sorry to the grave of an old man that he killed in a hit and run and then had to make amends with the band Chicago for selling boot-leg concert tee-shirts that said "Chicano." Hilarious to start with and made even funnier when Carl regrets the mistake of having immigrants makes the shirts at discount price.

Elsewhere, Meatwad and Shake were in jail because they stole Carl's car and apparently got arrested for drunk driving. One daiquiri really puts Shake over the edge. Nothing too funny here. However, anyone else notice that mumbling homeless guy that was in jail with them? I know we've seen him before but can't place my finger on which episode it was. He kept saying his pants were stuck to his butt. I don't want to know why.

Now here's the million dollar question. How did you interpret the ending? The way I see it, there's two ways. One? Everything that transpired between Carl and Bart right up to setting off the alarms at Linda Hamilton's house was for real. Then Bart, disappointed by Carl's lack of "team-spirit," appeared to Shake and persuaded him to put a BB gun pellet into Carl's head.

However, what if the final scene with Shake shooting the BB gun under Bart's supervision was actually a flashback? In that case, that's how it all started. Bart appeared to Shake, who then shot Carl, and Carl dreamed about his encounter with Bart while he was unconscious in Frylock's bedroom. Either one makes sense to me. Of course, I never would have pegged this show as one to have the potential for double meanings or multiple interpretations. Go figure.

Bart Oates (offering advice to Carl): "You know, sex isn't everything. Neither is the band Boston."
