All Bob wants for Festivus

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 5th 2006 11:00AM

Alias DVD setEvery year at this time, we here at TV Squad give our lists of what we want for Festivus. The shows we'd like to see renewed, the shows we'd like to see canceled, the TV-related DVDs and books and toys that we want, etc. Here's my list of stuff I want as 2007 rapidly approaches. A couple of things I doubt I'll ever see, a few I suspect I will see, and a couple I might have to do myself, like buying that new deluxe Alias DVD set.

But as I said last week, if someone who reads TV Squad bought me that, I'd be a happy camper.

  • Eyes released on DVD. Having the episodes online is fantastic, but I want to see a box sitting on my shelf.
  • Lost to get back on track. Though with all the other shows on TV, I'm caring less and less.
  • The Alias box set.
  • Amy Sedaris to bake me some of her cupcakes.
  • For The Office to stay as brilliant and funny as it has been so far.
  • For Nancy Grace, Bill O'Reilly, and Star Jones to be taken off television. I asked for this last year and only got one of them.
  • All CSI shows canceled.
  • NBC realizes they made a mistake in giving Conan O'Brien The Tonight Show and hires someone else.
  • For Studio 60 to get a full season. Oh, I already got that one!

Oh, I was just going to add, my Christmas TV gift would be the heads of CBS, Fox, NBC, and ABC saying they have realized the error of their ways, and are stopping Fall Finales. Seems like there is no good reason to have to split the season up like this, and it threatens good shows and hurts extended storylines.

Hey, I'm all with you on cancelling the CSI spinoffs, but the original has gotten pretty good this season, with a couple of the "different" shows they have tried.

I like Conan, but I really can't see him succeeding at 11:30. I don't know what the hell is going to happen there, especially with him starting out his new job against Letterman and Colbert.

I still like Lost. To the people that say it needs to get back "on track", I would ask what you would define as "on track". Where would you have the story go? I like it so far, as long as we get an allout war against the Others soon.

"All CSI shows canceled."

I'd be happy if CBS and NBC realized they could put new shows on all year and just put CSI in one time slot and alternated LV/MIA/NYC every three weeks (and L&O in the same pattern.)

Of course, that'd just leave us with more Dateline, so maybe I should reconsider this idea.

Leno is for dumb people, Letterman is for intelligent people, and Conan is for funny people.
