Rock out with Charlie Brown - VIDEO

by Adam Finley, posted Dec 6th 2006 6:20PM

charlie brown christmasReader James left this link on a previous post of mine, a clip from A Charlie Brown Christmas overdubbed with a song by heavy metal band Tourniquet. Sorry, I don't listen to a lot of metal, so I couldn't tell you the name of the song, but I'm sure one of you will tell me in the comments. I usually break out my Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack album around this time of year, but maybe I should download this song from iTunes as well and add it to my Christmas playlist. I don't know what's being sung, exactly, but I'm sure it has something to do with loving Jesus, goodwill towards men, and sipping apple cider around the fireplace ... with SATAN*.

Just for fun, I also included the Charlie Brown / Outkast mashup that hit the Web some time ago. Dance your pants off.

*Some readers pointed out that Tourniquet is a Christian metal band, so my joke doesn't really make sense. I will try to do a better job in the future of pretending I care about Christian metal and its place in the annals of modern music.

What I liked about the show was the Christmas tree Chuck purchased. It was very bare, then when they put the decorations on, it miraculously grew branches in quick manner. Here is something that I heard from a radio show host about the show in topic after Charles Schultz passed away. When Linus(sp?) Van Pelt told the story about Christmas from the Bible gospel, CBS told Schultz to cut that scene out because they felt no one wanted to hear it. Charles said otherwise, and dogmatically refused. About viewers opinion, Charles was correct and CBS was wrong.

Fantastic ! Keep posting interesting "Re mastered" material to U Tube and TVSquad. I love what CBS Paramount is doing with STAR TREK the original series. They're putting in new digital special effects that are awesome !

The Outkast version was very professional; I wonder if
anyone they make it a "ligit" video.

And although short, though hillarious, the heavy metal version was also a stroke of genius.

As for the dances, the Peanuts special (which its cpoyright year stated 1965 at the end of the credits)
is very old; many kids born in the '80's or even the '90's were not familiar of those dances. And as a
30-something born in the early '70's, I not only saw the special on TV, but also had the vinyl 33-1/3 recording. How many people have it on CD today??

Come on, you could have done a tiny bit of research here. This comment:

"I don't know what's being sung, exactly, but I'm sure it has something to do with loving Jesus, goodwill towards men, and sipping apple cider around the fireplace ... with SATAN."

leaves you looking like a total moron. Tourniquet is a Christian metal band, who has been around since 1990, that's 16 YEARS!. They're one of the most well-known Christian metal bands there is. I'm not a very religious person, but I do listen to all kinds of music, which is why I know about Tourniquet. I haven't listened to them in a few years (kinda grew out of the heavy stuff), so I'm not sure what song is dubbed over on that clip, but I am sure they would take great offense (as would any metalhead) to your generalizing that all bands that play hard music have ties to Satan.
