What is Micky Dolenz doing these days?

I was watching a re-run of Everybody Loves Raymond this week, and Peter Tork played the leader of the band at a wedding reception.

For the last few years Davy Jones has been making appearances at "Disney's Flower Power Concerts".

das, nick, me saying there are only a few Monkees fans left is more of a case of me busting my brother's balls than anything else. If there were no Monkees fans left, they wouldn't have been able to do all those reunions that they had over the last 20 years.

Mike has his videoranch 3-D virtual reality world that he's been working on, along with other projects, recently released a cd called Rays...Yes Micky is out in the public moreso with performances on the stage (I saw Pippin and he was fantastic in it!...can't wait to see what will come next for him!), as well as the occasional concert he will do...Davy is out in the public also, on concert tours, and plays venues like Epcot in FL yearly...Peter is active too, with his band Shoe Suede Blues (they will be over in England at the beginning of the year)....they each are active somewhere these days!!

Okay, I'm truly sorry for the harsh tone. I was out of line.

Thing is, I read this site every day, along with your sister sites Cinematical and Joystiq. I do find a lot of good stuff, some information, some entertainment.

It's one thing to overlook the basic errors in english that crop up in so many posts. I admit that I'm a language snob, and when I see "there" instead of "their," or a misuse of a possessive apostrophe, I cringe much more than is strictly healthy.

It's another thing, though, to find so many simple factual errors, that could have been avoided with a quick stop at the Monkees official site (www.monkees.net), or even their Wikipedia entry. I'm a bit of a geek for the Monkees (he said with some understatement), so I spot things like that right away.

But that makes me wonder: if I know this subject well enough to spot an error like that right away, how many other mistakes are getting through? If a TVSquadder can't take two seconds to find out that there's no E in Micky, can I trust anything I read on the site?

The other problem is exemplified by this sentence in the opening paragraph:

"since he seems to be one of the few people on the planet who is interested in anything and everything having to do with The Monkees"

Can you see how that might come off as a dig at Monkees fans? I realize that snark is the currency of teh interwebs, and you have to maintain your "voice" as a writer, but it goes against the intent of the article. The headline promises information about Micky Dolenz, then the article seems to imply that anyone who cares is some sort of Comic Book Guy-like obsessive.

I want you to understand, Joel, I'm not singling you out, and I have no ill will towards you, and I apologize for my harsh tone. This is simply a frustration I've had for a while that happened to come to a boil.

In any case, it's always nice to see what my second favorite Monkee (after Papa Nez) is up to.

Yet another Monkees fan here, along with my wife and our kids. I do think there's a lot of Monkees fans around, it's just we're all getting pretty old and tired, which makes us vewwwy, vewwwy quiet.

Oh, and regarding folks making corrections. I know you guys prefer such things sent via the "corrections" link that's nearly hidden almost at the bottom of the page in red, 2-point font. May I suggest you include a link to the corrections form right under each article headline along with the posted date/author and categories lines? This might help get any corrections sent via the correct routes in the future and save having to remind people about that "Where's Waldo-esque" link down below.

Just a thought. Not much of one, but it's about all I can muster.

You're right about 3, but it doesn't mean what I put is wrong.

With 4, I was thinking of the Saturday-morning reruns of the show from the early '70s, that's why I put CBS. I fixed it.

As for 5... my apologies... I threw that post up quickly. That's the nature of blogging sometimes; we try our best, but we miss some things. Anyway, thank goodness we have such polite and kind people like yourself ready to pounce on our mistakes, so we're covered no matter what...

1. It's Micky, not Mickey.

2. It's Davy, not Davey.

3. Michael Nesmith, in addition to counting that fat Liquid Paper cash, is a novelist, movie producer, and hosts The Council On Ideas, a gathering of intellectuals attempting to brainstorm solutions to world problems. http://www.videoranch.com/

4. The Monkees TV series ran on NBC, not CBS.

Does anybody on this site do even the most basic fact-checking?

While I have always been a Mickey fan, Davy was on one of those TV Land "Where are they now?" shows (raising horses in Pennsylvania)... and Papa Nez can claim (with Al Gore-like authority) to be the creator of MTV...
